The OP needs new material.
But I have some time to kill so I will play....
What I hate the most are Freds on MUPs, especially ones who think they are strong riders:

maybe it's time to explore unpaved rail trails. they're pretty darn fun & while they still have shared users, they tend to be less crowded. also, way more scenic

I love to ride MUP’s. Great coffee shops along the way, plenty of places to stop. Ya just need a bell and a 22 lb steel bike instead of a 17 lb aero bike. Leave the blinkie on low solid and don’t think about becoming KOM of the MUP for the day.

Nice advice, but a few months back, OP ran a series of posts, each whinier than the one before, about how he couldn't train properly on MUPs because of all of the others in his way, and how he thought they should be able to group train on such paths. Somehow, I don't think he's looking for scenic, fun, unpaved. He wants his own private road.

No self-respecting serious road cyclist would be caught dead on an urban MUP.

My Carbon Steed, my Armoured suit of Lycra, my hair blowing in the wind. Yes I am King of the MUP.
I must add that the MUP in my Kingdom is not 3 but 3 and 1 half miles long. I ride it’s entire length slow and majestically so all have a chance to adore me.
Retractable leashes be dammed for I am King.

I don't have any gripes with MUPS, they are there for all people to enjoy and not just for cyclists.

I figured there might be recycling of posts under the prior user name (very similar, terminated 03/15/18) but I can't seem to successfully search for posts. Nevertheless, I suggest OP find a group to ride with. When they kick his butt, as my group did to me today, there will be no energy to worry about what's happening on the MUP.

I think we made our point.
How about we invoke a mercy rule?

So the MUP is too crowded? Then umm, don't ride it when it's crowded. A 4:30am start is pretty much a guarantee you'll have the whole thing to yourself.
I didn't see anyone else on a bike, and didn't see another person until I was almost home.
Not that the SART is ever particularly crowded anyway. I have no complaints. Well, that's not true. If the "homeless" encampments could break their glass bottles down in the riverbed instead of on the trail itself, that would be pretty great.

I enjoy riding the greenways (don't call them MUPs around here). Yeah, they can get a little hectic on the weekends, especially this time of year. I find myself getting a little aggravated with the entire adult family spread out across the path, or the 30' leash across it. Things that should be just common sense things for most adults. But, oh well. It still beats the alternative, to me. I never get upset with the kids. They're children for goodness sake's! It brightens my day just to see them having fun.
The adults that don't use good judgement can sometimes get under your skin, but you just deal with it and go on. Most are always friendly, even if they aren't using their head. Really, the thing that bugs me the most are runners or walkers with earbuds. Especially the ones that don't know which side to be on, or worse yet ...don't have a side. Just waddles along down the middle while unable to hear anything going on around them. You think they are ignoring your warnings until you get close enough to see that their ears are crammed full. Another dead horse I know, but of all the things one could complain about ...that one gets my "here's your sign" award.
I suppose what it comes down to is... you just have to understand that we cyclists aren't entitled. The trail is not just for us, it's there for everyone. Just like motorists shouldn't feel entitled to the road over cyclists.
I'll overlook any of the little nuances when I can be the fastest cat on the road. I like not having to worry about something coming up behind me being faster ...and much larger. While texting no less...

The only real complaint is people who don't know understand the meaning of a MUP. If you don't like it and don't need to be on it, then don't worry about it. If you need to be on it just know how to share it with other people, it isn't hard. Things like not weaving around or taking wrong lanes or flashing lights at people like a discotheque and also just attempting to be friendly are not that hard.

Had a porcupine and a couple of deer encounters on a MUP last fall. All quite pleasant, but they did seem confused when I told them I'd be passing on the left.

Damn, a porcupine would be awesome. This is SoCal, so basically a desert. Beyond the occasional coyote, it's just an endless stream of rabbits, ground squirrels, roadrunners, and snakes. Which I guess is good, there's nothing I really even need to worry about running into.
I did get raced by a coyote once. He stayed parallel to me for a good quarter of a mile, then turned on the jets, turned a route toward me, and crossed about 20 feet in front of me moving like a blur. Dogs be dogs, I guess.

You know how I know that pic wasn't taken anywhere near here? Well, there's a bear in it, an appreciable amount of water, and everything is green. It's May now, so we're nearly out of water and green, replaced by brown 'n hot.
Also, a few inches above the bear and to the left, I think you may have captured a sasquatch on film.

I saw a baby wabbit the others nite, as it was nearly dark! looked down to see a little furry thing, the size of a chimp monk, but it was hopping along the edge of the paved MUP like a wabbit!

I saw one that had died by the side of a road in NH a cpl years back. I pulled over to take it's photo. I never reached out to touched it but I wound up getting stuck by a cpl quills anyway! as if they just shot out at me! dam that thing was still dangerous. impressive defense mechanism!
