My Cat Died Last Night

We're not sure what happened. She had been recovering well from some massive weight loss due to a hyperthyroid issue. Yesterday, she threw up a couple of times which was not unusual for her. This morning, I found her dead.

She was about 13. She adopted me 12 years ago. Living in our lake house, surrounded by family who loved her, she was happier this last year than I have ever seen. She helped me survive through some difficult times and I am grateful for her love. My world was made better because of her.

Cat, you will be missed.

Sorry for your loss.

Losing a long-time friend, a kitty like that, is very sad.

Excellent idea. It will make you feel better and you do some good for the shelter organization.

I know, it's tough loosing a pet you're had that long.

She showed up in my house one day and never left. I always just figured she adopted me so it wouldnt have been fair of me to give her a name.

Sorry to hear about your kitty.

We have two that are getting up there in age, a 10 yo grey long hair girl kitty "Katya" and a 12 yo big brown tabby Maine Coon boy "Ivan". They are both doing well, still playing. We are treasuring each day with them more.

Sorry to hear about your cat.

I went through something similar a few years ago, and I still remember it very clearly: I had a 16 year old cat who was grossly overweight, had arthritis and could hardly walk, and had diabetes (shots daily) and had to have most of its teeth pulled (previous owners were neglectful). He was recovering so well that I was shocked when I came home from work one day and he was mostly dead and ice cold in his litter box. I had to put him down.

I (fortunately/unfortunately) looked on the bright side, though: Now I don't have to worry about the kid crawling into the random deposits of cat poop all around the house...

I'm sorry to hear about that. It's tough when they go unexpectedly like that. I had one die of a heart attack at the vets. It was pretty tough.

Sorry to hear about Cat. Remember the snuglely purr sessions and the "O'Dark thirty, are you alive wake-ups" that she used to do.
