Road Riding in Carolina Beach

Vacationing for a few days at the beginning of August. Beach house is pretty surrounded by neighborhoods and no seemingly clear shot to rural roads and low traffic. Best to leave the road bike at home and run for a few days or can anyone suggest a quick way to get to some good riding?

IDK if you use Strava, but the segment search for "Carolina Beach" shows 2046 pages of logged rides. I would say someone is riding somewhere there.

I haven't been at Carolina Beach in about 10 years but I do remember seeing a few bikes and runners along that area. There is a large bike / walking path that runs from Fort Fisher up to and around Wilmington. You may want to look into this before you make your decision. FYI: The area is nice and flat!

Just in case anyone else needs this information in the future, I found River Road to be a fantastic choice and there are several loops you can make throughout the area, but I just took an out and back approach and then added some miles with a Kure Beach loop. River Road was long and flat with bike lanes on both sides that were pretty clean. Many cyclists out on the Saturday morning I rode. This was the first time the bike ever made a vacation trip and I have never ridden such a flat terrain in my nine years of road riding. 37.5 miles and 413 feet of elevation. That's basically the equivalent of climbing the hill to get back to my driveway at home!

The best biking down there IMO is out past Carolina & Kure beach, down at Fort Fisher. No houses, miles of open riding, low amount of traffic, plus some beautiful views.
