@hellogoben - try right click on the pic and select 'view picture'
Since this classic frame could not take recessed nuts I had to use an external one. Drill the frame was not an option.
@gomango - can't PM you back since this forum will not allow me as I have less than 50 posts
@Roboisgod - get your point about the Regal but this one is special and comfy which matters

I'm going through a similar process and I'm having a tough time deciding on a color scheme.
I think I have it, then I don't.
I really like what you've done a great deal.
Super nice, that's for sure!

My brief for this build was it had to be fresh, retro with subtle notes.
I've done metallic paint bikes so wanted to try pastel colours and that was the basis of the main colour.
In my mind I had this vision of a classic Italian fiat 500 in baby blue!
Green had been done before with Bianchi but this is not one but a classic hand built bike from a small frame maker by Campione d'Italia.
In keeping with the retro theme I had to have white bands on the seat tube. I did think of having championship colours but this has been so over done now so went with thin Italian stripes. Then to finish off was have the have the lugs lined in red by hand and decals replicated protected by a lacquer.
At the end of the day with bike paint jobs it's a personal thing. The main person you need to please is the person who is going to ride it, so go with your imagination.

I'd rather recable the bike again instead of dealing with a NR post and a cervelo aero post - both of which are pains in the butt. Luckily toupes have a cutout that I can get a socket through for the NR. White housing will look pretty good.

Took it for a shakedown ride today! It was amazing, and good weather to boot. It's set up for the limits of my flexibility during the peak of riding season but I'll get back there in no time.

Thanks. The Shamal just ride nice. They are quite thin, but the Deltas work decent on them as well. It is a great feeling with 130psi. The whole concept at this time is just great. Ergos 2.gen, Deltas 5pivot last gen., 1.gen Shamal 16spokes. Everything just works fine...

A question about front derailleurs when converting: my original front der. is a clamp-on Suntour Cyclone. I'm installing a 105 5600 group, but the new front der. is a braze on. The frame has no tab, and I like the look of the Cyclone. Will it be compatible with the new shifters and compact crank (50-34 from 52-42), or will I have to find a clamp adaptor?
I appreciate your advice.

Leave this forum now. I mean now. And wipe out any memories you have from these sweeeeet 80's real steal bikes and Campagnolo stuff. Those things suck anyway. Who would want them.

I can't tell if your Colnago is one of the ones with the aggressive geometry, but I would like to hear some details your perception of it's handling.
