Bikes welcome at my place! They go inside in the bike room. Dirty, wet, commuter bike or mtn bike? No problem, it goes in the locked garage.

I would not bring my own bikes inside the house and get dirt on the carpet or hit a doorway or piece of furniture with the bike. When I had too many bikes to fit in the available space in my garage I added a shed that currently holds 5 bikes.

I have not problems when touring to having my bike inside the room I rented for the night and if one is visiting friends or relatives that have no space for a bike this is an option.

Come to think of it, my bikes don't get into my house, why would I expect a friend or family member to let me bring my bike inside their home. I just lay it down on the lawn.

I have had people look at me weirdly when bringing a bike into my workplace. I used to put it either on the credenza or behind the table, Some thought it was cool. My Bosses' boss eventually told me to use a secret apartment in the building to store the bike and shower. He had it built to play around. I usually felt dirtier coming out of the shower than when I went in.

In the last 50 years I can’t recall ever having to ponder this question. Whenever anyone visits on a bicycle they invariably leave it outside the house. I do the same when visiting other people. Dogs are a different animal.

prices of a decent bicycle might make its' owner appreciate it more compared to a BSO

I wouldn't expect to bring my bike into someone's house, even if they are also bike people. If they offered, I would, but I wouldn't expect it ahead of time. As I said before, however, if there is not a safe place to leave my bike, appropriate for the amount of time I will be there, I'm not staying around.

Bikes: Too many bikes, too little time to ride

I don't assume anyone will let me bring my bike inside. If I'm in this situation, I ask the host if there's a safe place for my bike before I commit to biking over.
I also don't assume people will allow me to bring a dog inside. If I'm in this situation, I ask the host whether I can do this ahead of time, not when I get there.
If someone visits me with a bike or a dog, I offer my garage.

Bikes are welcome at my place, not pets. They'll probably go in the garage, with all of my bikes. Otherwise, if someone has a real reason to bring their bike into the dwelling area, they just have to ask. Likewise, if I ride my bike to someone's house, and ask if it's OK to park it indoors or under cover, I think most of the people I know would be OK with it.

I can't imagine a dog in my house.

if i knew someone had ridden a bicycle to visit me at home, i'd 100% offer them space in the (shared) garage, and i'd lock it up.

if i was visiting someone in a multifamily building on bike, i would probably ask beforehand what the storage situation was. i would not leave an expensive bike outside. at a detached single family house, i'd just ask when i got there if i could put it in the garage.

bringing a bike inside someone's house is not something i'd remotely entertain without asking unless they offered.

I rode to my In-Laws once and their garage was full as they were getting ready to move and it was full of boxes and stuff. I went there to help them pack up the last of the stuff, but I did not want my bike to be in the way as we went back and forth with boxes and storage in the garage. So I asked my father in law if I could put it out on their enclosed back porch, he told me he did not care. However, the Mother In Law, was not happy about that. The porch was just a basic screened in porch with a painted concrete floor, but she said I should leave it outside as it was dirty. I look at my wife, and she tells her mom, his bike is spotless and cleaner than your car and he just rode 90 miles to come help you pack stuff up. Father in law tells me to put it on the porch, and told her to get over it. I pick it up and carry it out, but she was not happy about it.

She even said something to me once when a bike was on my Wahoo trainer and said bikes do not belong in the house. I said this was not her house and we do not have a problem with it, and she did not have a say in the matter. That went over as well as you think it did. My wife has to remind her on occasion of all the stuff I do for her after her husband died and she should be nicer to me.

OMG, I did not know this was an option. Would have made things so much easier when my wife's brother came to visit with his 5 kids. I don't drink but a rare beer a couple times a year, but I went out and got a 6 pack of Belgian Sour cherry beer that day. Even my two sons were like WTF and they were less than 12 years old.

Only reason I can think of this coming up would be if I was staying with someone overnight - in which case of course I would arrange ahead of time to make sure that there was somewhere truly secure for the bike.

I suppose if I visited someone in an upstairs apartment or something where the bike was going to be out of sight in a public area it might come into play as well, but I can't say it's been a particularly common problem. If I ride to the hardware store I just wheel the bike along with me.

So you think I don't appreciate my expensive bikes? If I was visiting someone in an area where there was no safe place to leave a bike outside then I'm not going to take it.

Would you let others that visit you, bring in there cycle bicycle? If yes, do those that ride one clearly know they are allowed to do such?
like others have said it depends on the situation but you can park your bike on my covered porch and it will be fine

Let's not discuss crime statistics, they're off-topic.
