Delaminating Bontrager Seatpost
Hi,
Help!
The stock Bontrager seatpost on my Trek 2.3 is starting to delaminate! Its right above the seatpost clamp and there are carbon strands that are detaching from the post up toward the seat.
Can I ride it like this? Should I take it in to the shop or just buy a new seatpost?

Wonder if they'll just warranty it for a nice aluminum post? Otherwise, yeah...I'd just buy a new one.

I agree just same yourself some worry and buy a alloy post.

I would take it back to the dealer. The people at Trek would probably like to get it back to see what went wrong with it. It may be a manufacturing defect. I think it would be under warranty.

So long as it wasn't over torqued or pinched at the collar They probably would Warranty the post. For this reason I use only alloy posts.

+1 on a77impala's comment. I would pull the seat post from the bike and take it to the dealer.
