Is this a good deal for Trek 7.6 FX?
Hey gang. First of what I hope to be many posts. I love cycling, and I want to share my passion with my girlfriend. I've been scouring craigslist for a bike in the $200-$300 range, either road bike or a lightweight hybrid. But I came across this Trek 7.6 FX listed for $700 OBO, and upon further research, it appears to be the exact kind of bike we are seeking for her.
I'm willing to spend the extra cash if it's a worthy investment. Anyway, long story short, what do we think? Also, I noticed the frame is 43cm. Is it just me or is that super small? My girlfriend is 5'5" so the 17" sounds right but I'm not sure the 43cm is her size?

If it fits her, that looks like a swingin' deal if the age and condition are right. That's a $1300 bike new.

Nice bike. Agree you need to find out what year it is. Looks like a fairly small bike. It might work for a person 5'4" or 5'5".

No. It's a 2007 7.6FX WSD (17"); seven years old. Maybe 350-450 if in excellent condition -- depends on your market. 50% of original retail? No.

Hi,
Check out this website.
I think the price he wants is way to high.
Looks more like $350 to me.

I would start at $250. I picked up a 2006 7.3 from a lady who bought the "men's" frame because she felt the WSD would be harder to sell. Kind of strange but that is what she said.

Quick update. I made an opening bid of $300 and she said she would go no lower than $600. I thought this was too steep. Also, my girlfriend was not fond of the color. The owner also did not provide me the year of the bike in her response leading me to believe it is a 2007 as some of you implied. Instead, I just cut a deal elsewhere for a lightly used 2010 7.3 FX for $275. This was more in the price range that I was looking to spend initially, and from my research I think I got a fair enough deal. They were asking $400 for the bike. Also, I won't feel as bad spending a lower amount in case my girlfriend decides cycling is not her thing. Although, I would be emotionally devastated...
