Somewhere back in time are posts of my '85 Prestige. I was the oppostite of your mindset, thinking they only made them in '85.
If I recall correctly, the fork was actually painted, chromed on the very nice crown only, and Tange Prestige stickers on the fork legs. I may be wrong.
I bought mine from a guy who had the whole bike, fully equipped with the 2x6 indexed Dura Ace 7400. He wanted part-out prices, so I only bought the frame/fork/headset. I should have sprung for the entire frame.
Back then, I knew not how to fit a bike to myself, and after setting it up with tricolor 2x7, I sold it because I didn't think a 54cm would fit.
My error.

that is a very interesting one you found there fleslider . First , I was not aware Centurion had a Prestige model in 85' , at first I thought the owner had customized it with different forks , chrome and non recessed brake mount bolt . So I started looking around for Prestige info to try to get better Centurion knowledge and among a bunch of stuff I found this https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...-prestige.html This was the model I thought was the first Prestige , but also found that was wrong Centurion had in fact first introduced the Prestige in 85 ' So now I'm on the search for a 85' Perstige .

Has anyone ever seen a 1986 Prestige in real life, or at least a picture of one in the wild?

For years, I would have scoffed at the thought of the '86-newer paint scheme on the elegant '85 Prestige.
It was pure class.
1985 was one heck of a year for Centurion:
Cinelli Equipe Centurion, SL tubing and Campy/Ofmega/Miche/Universal components.
Prestige, Tange Prestige, Dura Ace components
Ironman, Tange 1, Shimano 600EX.
... and those were just the top 3

Chain sometimes jamming when shifting out of smallest cog
My chain had been jamming when shifting out of the smallest cog. With my bike on a work stand I saw that at the beginning of the shift the chain tilts slightly to the outside, sometimes getting caught against the seat stay. I solved the problem by adding 2 mm of washers between the lock nut and the lock washer on the drive side of the rear axle.
Has anybody else had this problem?

No, and you should not, either. Pull the washers. Make sure the outer axle nut is not missing, and check to make sure the axle is centered in the hub.
First, check the RD, as it may be bent, or perhaps the RD hanger. It happens if you've transported or dropped the bike or even just changed out the rear tire and let it sit on the RD.
Check the axle, make sure it's seated securely and evenly, and the QR skewer is not loosening up as you ride.
If you have axle adjustment screws, adjust them, looking at the chain stays, seat stays/calipers. That is generally the easiest and most common issue.
I doubt the axle's bent, but also check the QR to make sure it's not bending the axle by being overtightened.
If it's still happening, pull the wheel and check the "seat" of the cogs on the freewheel (I am assuming you have a freewheel). That is rare for a bike that has been working find. If you've upgraded the components and are using a freehub, it's quite common for the outer cog to "sit" just fine but not be properly seated, so remove the lock ring and double-check that.
You should simply not be having this problem. Whatever it is, it's all back there in a small space, so you should be able to locate it and find it.

When I click on the pic, it distorts and has banners, so it must be copyrighted.
Funny, they copyrighted my picture.
This is the thumbnail version. If/when I get validated there, I may be able to pull the pic.

Here is something interesting I kind of think the seller doesn't know what he has . So is it a 85' Prestige ? A Comp / TA ? For sure he doesn't know how to measure . I like the way he has placed the lock .

Given the lettering font and color (white), it is not a Comp TA, it is not a Prestige. I suspect an '86 model of something.

Thanks.
I am quite sure the fork was painted over that chrome, just happens to be close in color.
I'm almost as wistful for that groupset, full tricolor 2x7 indexed.
Chromed seat stay caps, chromed dropouts and fork end, chromed fork crown.
After years of looking at bikes, if it was a Tsunoda frame, I'd not be surprised.
(Very similar to the Lotus Classique of the same era, but Prestige vs. Champion #1 )
That was a rock-hard Cervelo saddle, I think, non-OEM bars, and I'm certain the front wheel was a mismatch.
The rear was an Ironman wheel, 6400/Araya CTL-370. The front was a re-lace.
If I had it now, full DA 7700, long cage 7700GS RD, some nice polished wheels and a decent saddle.
If I only knew then what I had. The seller wanted $400 more for the DA 7400 group with wheels.
At the time, I declined. I'd have done it now, in hindsight.
Aaargh. Of course.

I'd love for you to take a look at it. It bugs me very much when my chain jams. The 2 mm of washers has solved the problem, but if there were a solution not involving the washers I'd like to know what it is.

Anyone ever tried to convert or know of anyone who successfully converted their Dave Scott "Master" to a 650B? I'm wanting to go 650b with some 38's which is roughly same diameter as 700x23......smaller rim/wheel but larger tire.
Thanks!
Thanks!
