Dude. I had trouble keeping up with the group, too

I blew it with yesterday's club ride. Someone please remind me not to get into pissing contests on the bike the day before a big ride. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
This was one of the most miserale days I've had riding a bike.

Kareem, thanks again for driving SAG! I bet you're glad you weren't on a bike today

HA! Yea, I felt pretty much like **** out there too as well. Few things different next time I am thinking. Little more warm up before we tackle palomar, more food for me, less sugar for me, less waiting around. 9 hours for 6 hours of riding? That picnic table sure was comfy though.

I didn't ride yesterday and it was still a long, brutal ride.

Good seeing and meeting everyone, or most everyone. Sorry I missed you, Phil. I was stiffening up so I left.

There were some descents that made me wish I was on a bike... namely the descent right at the end of Mesa Grande.

I'll happily take the title, now get my my magnetic signage. I dont think the tacky "soccer van paint" on my rear windshield caught enough attention... some drivers need to take a ****ing clue (namely that dude in the red civic who passed us right before the turn onto Bandy Canyon Road).

Ah yes. Couchweight and I were discussing that one. What a beautiful piece of road.

Yeah... Jason dropped me like a hot potato on that descent. That's what caused me to tip the damn ice chest over in my trunk (that last hairpin turn before that long straight descent).

Sorry to the back group for getting you lost today. I'm looking at Google Maps and it still doesn't make sense to me why we got lost. The directions seem to jibe with what Google Maps shows. (And El Norte, where we ended up, doesn't even intersect Washington Ave on Google Maps.) Maybe there's new construction or something. I'll have to go drive it sometime to sanity check the route for next time, or just cut out the uninteresting detour onto Washington Ave and redo the Escondido routing (as various people have suggested).

Of the many times I've completed the Pie Ride, this time was the most frustrating. I don't completely understand why, but it was. Probably a combination of factors, among which getting lost actually ranks pretty low on the list. Nonetheless, I had a great time. However, I have decided that having done this ride more than anyone else and having enjoyed wonderful SAG support on many occasions, I will be driving SAG next time. Thanks everybody for showing up, and a huge thank you to Iamkar33m for driving SAG and for helping us get un-lost.

We turned onto Washington from Citrus. Someone else told me that El Norte has since been extended and now intersects Washington east of where Citrus and Washington intersect. Our group turned left there on the mistaken (but previously correct) assumption that we were looking for the first major intersection after turning onto Washington and realized the mistake too late, after some of the others had already gotten out of shouting range. Oh well. Looks like the future routing will be to stop for refreshments at the gas station at the corner or Citrus and Valley Pkwy, and then to simply continue on Valley Pkwy directly to Lake Wohlford.

When I was driving home last night the Valley Pkwy and was passing the Lake Wohlford turn and the gas station I was thinking "Why the heck we did not just take the Valley Pkwy"

But not a big deal, those few extra miles give me the missing distance to make it a century

Thanks for the sag support Kareem. This ride would be a lot more difficult without the support.

Thanks also Jason for organizing another Pie Ride
