Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes sir, I'm picking Spain. Fabregas, Torres, and the all of the backs are a force to be reckoned with.

I am setup a prediction bracket on espn with a group of friends and you guys are welcome to join us. It's 3 easy steps,

1. register an account at https://games.espn.go.com/bpredictor/en/frontpage
2. Complete your bracket
3. when asked to create or join a group, search for the group name "Bluegartr", the password is "gingerspice"
4. You're done, sit back and have a cold one!

You will get points based on the accuracy of your prediction, the more points the better obviously. I am not sure whether there is a price but it's surely easy and great fun

Yep. Football is the one sport I follow very closely so I'll be watching as many matches as I can. Spain can do it I suspect since they play the best possession football right now. I'm curious to see if Maradona can get Argentina together and turn it around. I'm very eager to see the US vs England, and though England is the European team I support, I'm really hoping the US can get a good result.

Yes. I will be leaving for SA next Wednesday. Cape Town 2 matches confirmed and then let's see where we go from there.

Come on In-Grrrr-Lund.

This will be my 4th World Cup.
Italia 90 - Couldn't get semi tickets but saw England lose to Italy in the 3rd/4th play off
France 98 - Saw England lose to Romania in the group stages
Japan 2002 - Saw some group games, couldn't get tickets to watch England lose to Brazil in the quarters.

There is a theme here...

I think the Spanish will bottle it. My money is on the Dutch and, as an outside bet, Chile.

.... and In-Grrr-Lund.

Hope your theme runs true. England loses to the USA? Totally bummed that I will be at a wedding on Sat. Am now looking for some blank VCR tape to get the game. Sports Illustrated predicts England vs Spain in the final with Spain the winner.

Yes, the world loves it and I do too. I don't even care who wins, but Brazil is a good guess.. Spain has flare but not sure if they can really do it.

(and american "football" blows, btw, sorry!)

Yes. Not traditionally a fan, but the enthusiasm over here at EC/WC time is infectious.

me too. i normally have no interest in football but world cup and european cup times i get really excited. I can't wait to see the england USA match.

I have no interest in watching cycling or most olympic sports but the big events brings out the repressed fan in me.

Maradona like a player was awesome, i saw him 2 times back in the day and yes he was a genious, as a DT (or technical director aka coach) must be a big JOKE. Argentina lives for this sport and they needed something to cheer people so who's better than maradonna? Well hope the lines in the field are really well painted in the grass or he might have one of his moments and try to sniff those lines during the game.

Spain never been in a final that i remember of, but yes they have a good team this year, hope they do something this year. Brazil is pretty bad lately so fthem big time

Mexico? come on man!... if it wasn't because mexico plays the wc qualifications rounds "all the time" with teams that don't even know what a ball is they wouldn't be in the WC, and thats why they have not missed a single WC ever. Doubt they will pass 2nd round this year.

Looks like spain are the only consistent team.

Lets watch the game in a few mins. Just in case the best the US can do against England will be a tie in my opinion.
