This is so sleek, I love it. I'd love to see IGH supported somehow in a similar interface.

And I have added a "compare mode" which allows you to compare different combinations directly. For example a typical MTB setup with the famous Rohloff hub:

Re: Mike Sherman's gear calculator

Hello, I just wanted to spread the word that, because of ISP issues, I have moved the calculator to GitHub.
Because this account is new, I'm not allowed to post a link, but you can message me and I'll send the links.

I'm also working on a new version to try to make the program friendlier on small screens.

Bookmarked!

Many thanks!!! That is one nice piece of work. I already took screenshots of our current configurations and sent the images to our phones for quick reference in the future.

This should be a sticky or pinned item.

Schweeeeet.

In the highly unlikely event you have nothing better to do than satisfy the whims of cranks:

Sturmey-Archer's new four-speed, the X-R*4, has ratios of 1.00, 1.28, 1.64 and 2.10 (all up).

Sturmey-Archer's new five-speed, the RX-R*5, has ratios of 0.64, 0.80, 1.00, 1.25 and 1.56.

Take a look at posts 14 and 15. They will lead you to the calculator and the newer versions.

I am not Mike.

I am someone who is grateful that Mike took the time and expended the energy to make his tool available for us to use.

post 14 and 15 are the old hosted earthlink.net versions. Those are going away.

(I've been using the Gear Calculator for years, it's the best.)

I found the github page: https://github.com/mike-sherman but I don't know how to use these source files.

You don't use them.

(I just realized I have each site in a different tab.)

A little assembly is all that is needed.

A dot and another dot and a forward slash will show valid pages when added to the post I made.

The old version : mike-sherman github io shift_v4

The new version : mike-sherman github io shift

and then there were seven

Thanks for the effort to both the authors of:

Bicycle Gear Calculator
(used and recommended it for years, added to my website's recommended link section)

and

Mike Sherman's Bicycle Gear Calculator
Mike Sherman's Bicycle Gear Calculator

- normal people prefer the graphical version I suppose, not me, but it is good, very good
Thank you for having made this, and the effort for improving it.

This is not a criticism, as much as a suggestion:
I find the gear-calculator.com user interface a lot more convenient to use. From a desktop at least.

I'd also suggest to both authors to enforce https - it should be relatively simple, free, while avoiding the warning in many browsers of how the website is "insecure".

I've been tempted to add internal gear hubs, but haven't had time to do so...
