[QUOTENice, but you are thinking of selling the Cinelli... in Black no less.... must have found a Confente or Lotus Seven or Elan to play with.[/QUOTE] Right you are, sir! Not a Confente or Lotus, though you are on the right track, ahem. It is on its way from the wild west as I write. I'll post pix when it arrives. Here's an hors d'oeuvre:

Scozim I love that shot of the Gitanes - they look like a pair of colorful parrots sitting next to each-other.

From last evening's ride, partially along a rail trail, so I stopped by the Historical Society's Depot for some photo ops.

This was at the end of the rail trail next to the town garage. Seems like every NH town garage has a snow plow memorial.

I don't think Schwinn's Flamboyant Red quite matches Caboose Red.

A Cinelli superlight, now that is a worthy replacement. As I have my C bike, I am beginning to consider a toy, an Evora or forget the rear seats and go really wild and get an Ariel Atom 3. Of course a Seven like KAR120C would be very tempting.

"Oxide" red, Bob - that's what it's called by railfans. Don't let your Flamboyant Red get too close to it, lest it become Flamboyant Oxide Red

Man, this thread is producing some really nice shots of bikes actually being used. So many of the bike pic threads are full of shots of peoples garages. It's nice to see them out in the wild I took some pics this morning, will be sure to contribute once I get home to upload them.

i leaned my tool against the fence this morning to take a pic, before i left for the coffee house to get some work done.

the "commute" consisted of riding over this bridge, making a right, then parking.

under the bridge is what the Foundry looks like now. The remnants of what made this town, steel.

a bunch of the workers lived in these little row homes next to the foundry.

i pulled over to take the pic from the bridge.

same parking spot as yesterday

It's not C&V, but it's steel and has a B-17. Does that count? My T-W-Th commuter vehicle. Indoor storage on both ends.

I had to run over to campus for a few odds and ends, so I took a couple of pics on the way and back:

Along the Muddy River with the Mallard family in the background:

In front of the Sears Tower near Fenway Park. Today was the first day of Boston's new bikeshare system: Hubway, and here's my bike next to one of the Hubway bikes. A good sign, I think, is that this was the only bike left at the kiosk:

[Hubway] ^^

I saw these all over Rome this Summer. Cool concept, but let's see how the system and bikes look after a New England Winter.

I keep my bike wrenching within the garage. That's our agreement. But it's too damn hot even at midnight in there (100 F).
I picked up a pair of rear wheels for $5. One is this 7spd 600 Tri-color freehub and Mavic Open 4 CD clincher. It's been crashed, and the seller started messing with it unsuccessfully. Too many spokes had snapped.

I took the wheel into my office in the early morning and unlaced it in A/C-ed comfort. The warped rim straightened (enough I hope), the bearing surfaces are still good, and a few spokes were salvageable. But the seller lost the NDS spacer and locknut.
I should be able to return it to service.
