My name is Pepe from La Jolla. I’m 55 years old. After 35 years, I quit smoking May 10th 2006 and start biking.
I’m commuting to work (20 miles each way) at least twice a week, long rides (40 to 50 miles) on Saturday’s and shorter rides with my wife on Sunday’s.
I’m planning to do my first century on April 14th (Hemet).
Biking has changed my life!

I'm a Geohydrologist in Claremont. Mostly local stuff - the Damn-Canyon route put together by a guy at work to cause max pain and suffering in as little time possible (up and down canyons along baseline), Figure 8's of bonelli, up GMR and down baldy. Trying to find people to chase and longer routes.

We ride the Santa Ana Mountains in Orange County, CA. From Black Star, down to San Juan Trail and coastal stuff too, Woods Canyon, El Morro etc. Many of the trails are hundreds of years old. Millions of people live here but we are the lucky ones who spin amongst the spirits of coal and silver miners, Holy Jim & Helena Modjeska.
John: F1000, Disc's, Hollow Tech II, XT Dual Control
Other John: '04 Superlight original XT Components, Stick w/ what works.
Sunday morning cross country riding, usually ~2 hours. Always happy to add a person or 2. We are over 20, also over 30, 40 & 50, but we can climb.

Hi bike peeps, I'm Erik. I ride mostly with my gf, usually around the Rose Bowl area here in SoCal (at a leisurely pace). She's on a blue Raleigh comfort bike and I'm on either a Giant fcr or my new baby, a Bianchi 928.
This is a great forum and it's nice to see local rides and everyone's impressions of them. The century type rides sound really cool and hopefully we'll be in good enough shape to try a half century soon.
Cheers,
Erik

Hey Welcome Erik!
I'll be doing a little riding around the Rose Bowl this evening before heading out to Griffith Park and joining the gang on our weekly social night ride up to the observatory. Join us one of these days...

Welcome Erik and other new faces to So Cal! Hope those who are close enough to ride will come out and join us. We have a shorter ride scheduled for next Sunday and BBQ if any of you want to come out and meet folks who post on here.

Thanks for all the nice words of welcome. I've had an eye on the weekly Griffith Park rides and I have vowed to give it a shot one day (i.e. when my legs and lungs can handle a group ride). We usually get out to the Rose Bowl on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Hopefully with daylight savings time coming up, I'll be able to get more weekday riding in as I do believe I fallen in love with riding a bike

Well, I'll be at the Bowl with my daughter this evening. Actually, we'll be in the parking lot learning how to ride in a straight line and use brakes (instead of feet) to stop. So Fixer, if you see a guy screaming at his 9 year old in the lot that'll be me.
Have a great time at the Observatory tonight folks, I saw some pics from a previous ride and it looks gorgeous up there.

My name is Jon and I'm a cycloholic. When I'm not on my bike I'm thinking of my next ride, which is usually with Bramwell's OCW Saturday Century guys or with my club Veloce Santiago or on Wednesdays with BCI in Fountain Valley. I started riding again last year after a long time off the bike and I'm hooked again. Last year my goal was to get a Planet Ultra KOM jersey and I did it, this year is to do it again and get the California Triple Crown jersey. My first double will be Solvang and they say it's a good first one so I'm looking forward to it.
I ride a White Carbon Token. Token? Never heard of a Token until last year when I crashed my steel Marin an bent the frame and needed a new frame so I went to ebay and found this beautiful white carbon Token. I built it up with my components off my Marin and I've logged 2000 miles on it and I love it!
I would be interested in riding with a different group on Wednesdays, BCI is too slow for me and I end up riding alone anyways, which is usually SART to PCH to Newport Coast and back 53 miles from my house.
Oh, I'm an "At Home Dad" which is my job with two boys, ages 3 years and the other 10 months. I also sell remanufactured Inkjet and Toner cartridges from my house through my friends business. I play the French horn for the Fullerton HS program every year, this year is "Little Women" and opening night is Friday the 23rd at Plummer in Fullerton. These kids are great, every year they blow me away. I've been to Broadway shows that didn't have as much talent as the kids of Fullerton HS.
Well I hope to ride with you guys soon.
