I'm afraid to ask because the last time I found a tool that I didn't know what it is for, turned out to be something chicks use to curl their eyelashes. But anyway, what is this thing? I tried looking it up on the internet and only found that it is a "universal spanner wrench". That really didn't help me much. Doesn't seem to fit any bolt, nut or screw I've ever seen. It has "Akron" printed on one side and "Style 10" on the other.

I saw it in a puddle on the side of the road. Not many things shine in the bike light like this thing did. From the international law of the sea, I have the salvage rights so it's mine and I'm going to keep it. Just need to know what it's for, that's all.

Thanks DC Commuter. Now what the hell was it doing in the road? No sprinklers anywhere near the spot. Anyways thanks again. Now I will be able to get to sleep tonight. Although I am a little disappointed that the sharpe end wasn't ment for cleaving things. Sprinklers then. Nope, still not working for me.

Maybe fell off a fire truck? It looks to me like a tool to open 5 gallon buckets of food, but I'm probably wrong. It's amazing what you dind in the road sometimes.

I guess I'm answer man tonight. Restaurants buy things like mayonaise, margarine, peanut butter, etc. in five gallon buckets. It's a convenient size for one person to carry.

So the answer is anything.

Hmm... you might want to tns of up and down piping in your house then dig a hole and bury a hose underneath and attach to the fire hydrant and turn it on in the summer time to cool the place down. Or just use it for free water to water the plants.

Fire hose couplings! Sprinklers sound boring, but fire hose couplings... that sounds interesting. Dam I missed it! There must have been a fire along my commute and I missed it. It's not fair man. I've put in the time, I should get to see the fire. I've got sweat equity in that route dammit!

Fireman must have left it on a runningboard or somewhere on the truck, then it fell off as they drove back to the station. Is there a fire station near your commute route? You could return it.

I found a policeman's notebook while riding once. Read it cover to cover, of course. Amazing how many domestic disputes and car accidents there are. Then I gave it to the cop in the next police car I saw - she laughed, said she knew whose it was, and that she'd give him ---- for losing it.

The only tool I ever found while riding was a vice grip. Still have it!

I'll try to remember the stuff I've found so far:
A 100' fiberglass measuring tape
A 1/2" breaker bar (socket wrench) about 18" long
A short carpenter's level
A couple of combination wrenches
A screwdriver
A hitch pin (had to add the D-clip to use it)
Two pair of slip-joint pliers
A pair of needle-nose pliers
A 5-pound box of 16-penny nails

The nails had burst open on a main street near the edge; I normally would have passed it by but I figured it was bad news and would be blowing tires for weeks if someone didn't pick it up, and from what I can see, nobody every picks anything up around here.

I found a black rubber bungee with metal end hooks, the tow-hook end of a cheap tow-strap (with the frayed strap end still attached from where the strap broke,) a broken tire chain, a broken pressure gauge, and one glove (which leads me to believe there is a cyclist going around Michael Jackson stylie on the Sammamish River Trail now.)

I ran over a load of textbooks that had spilled on the street yesterday. Behind me was a streetsweeper preparing to pick them up.

I wanted to stick around and watch but I was late for work.
