Overlooking the North Fork Stillaguamish valley from Stimson Hill. The Stilly is flooding pretty badly right now.

The climb up to the view was kind of steep.

Tons of empty gravel roads here in the FBI/DEA/Marine Corps side of Quantico. It’s been the nicest thing about being away from SoCal for training

Most pics in this thread are inspiring and of great views. Here is the opposite.

One of the main/popular entry roads from the western side of the metro to thousands of miles of gravel has been under construction for almost 2 years now. A huge housing development has been in the works and with $300-600k homes being slapped up, the gravel road wasnt long for life.

I rode it today and went past the closed signs then up the dirt climb that is all just bulldozed dirt with huge ruts from the machine's wheels. Then I hiked a portion that was too difficult to ride.

Progress cant be stopped, but it just sucks that this is what progress looks like.
Selfish view here, I know.

This is looking back from near the end.

OK, I know this is a blast from the past, was just scrolling through pics to catch up from the last time I'd read on this thread, and noticed your bars....what bars are these? They look kinda similar to one we have on a vintage Bridgestone that were OE, but those don't swoop down or up. Comfortable?

Ah... those are Soma Oxford bars. Basically a Nitto Albatross copy. Mounted "upside down". I like them a lot and have them right side up on some other bikes. Very upright riding position.

Sadly, that AWOL bike broke.
Happily I'm riding an All City Gorilla Monsoon which I love.

Another attempt to get a good view of Whitehorse Mountain.

Snow is still keeping me from reaching the real overlook here.

great perspective and picture. how do you like that Giant? I have been looking at that one for a faster gravel ride vs a commuting (fenders, rack) commuter.
