Addiction LXXX

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think it is flipped, but you can remove the spacers for about 5cm of drop.

In my old age, I use a standard (?) 15cm stem, flipped with no spacers these days. The crossbar is horizontal like that of your Canondale.

This might be tonight's wine. I bet your dad would've like it. Sounds jammy.

The wife got 6 bottles today and I have to decide what I want tomorrow with steak on the grill. I am leaning towards an Argentinian Cab-Malbec-Cab Franc blend aged for 1.5 years in French oak barrels.

it is upwards by ~5° isn't It? I want it down~5°. I was hoping it would get me a half inch more reach. I might have to get a 110 stem or 115 if they make them. I don't want to resort to that because it might mess with the handling. TIA.

Unusual: A paraglider landed on the field by the office park this evening. Then he took off again, even though it was just a few minutes before sunset. Anyway, I was surprised how quickly the machine can get up there.

I am not sure but i think it only looks like it is upwards because the head tube is leaning back, so the stem slopes up. But if you look at the stem to head tube angle

I think that the angle between the stem and head tube looks like 85 degrees.
, it looks to be less than 90 degrees -- 85 looks right.
I was scared to affect handling too so gradually increased my stem length. Also as my belly decreased, and flexibility increased, I was able to make it longer. My flexibility has decreased but I have never found handling to be adversely affected.

Conversely if you are doing urban downhill or riding in a peloton you may need a twitchy fast reacting stem. But for suburban/country cycling the longer the stem the more gentle the handling.

Read good things about them. Not sure I would drop $2k plus on a set of wheels. Probably couldn’t get away with that either. Unless I had a coupon.
Yeah, those are the wheelset that I'd recommend to people that want a modern wheelset (but aren't sure about running tubeless) in the ~$1200 region.

.... 'specially if they ride a Trek.

Nah, I go to decaf espresso after 3:00 to 3:30 or so. Have to.

I’m running two grinders, one for regular and one for decaf. Regular is a Sette 270wi and decaf is a Rancillo Rocky. The Sette does a decent job but the Rocky clumps too much for a bottomless portafilter so I use a bottomless with the Sette and regular with the Rocky.

I’m getting ready to do a deep clean on both grinders.

Also a pic from post ride meal with LSS.
You could say it's a scene from an Italian restaurant.
I wussed out on the longer ride. I had anxiety about slowing them down with all the climbing. Did a ride with 4 others which started into a headwind and the wind got stronger as we rode to the bottom of a 7 mile climb on an exposed ridgetop so they decided to turn back and get coffee. After coffee I saw an old friend riding with his wife and her sister so I rode with them for an hour or so. A fun day after all.

ok, I think I understand what you are saying. I know I can put the spacers on top and try it but I am nervous about someone cutting the crabon steer tube. I appreciate the reply.

Cool! When did you get the 270Wi? Seems like a neat dosing grinder.

I want to see how the Mazzer does with the new burrs. If it's a noticeable improvement, I may be happy for another year. If it's about the same, I might try to sell it to partially fund something like a Ceado or Eureka.

Sounds like a good day except for the wind. It seems like it was windy everywhere but not here. It was also dripping with bright sunshine.
