Use levers without the brake adjuster

What will it take to use these first model Superbe levers without the ugly adjusters? Will I need an equivalent piece
in its place that will hold the brake cable in place?

I'm guessing these - VeloBase.com - Component: SunTour BL-SB00-N, Superbe Pro

it sure is handy to have a brake adjustment somewhere.

if these are your brakes, there's a cable adjustment on the calipers - VeloBase.com - Component: SunTour BA-SB00-S, Superbe Pro

+1

That's a tiny bit of "ugly" and whole lot of useful you're talking about removing.

Those adjusters fit onto threaded stubs that are pressed into the lever bodies. If you remove the adjusting barrels the stubs will still be there and there will be an annular space between them and the holes in the gum hoods. You'll still need a stop for the cable housing. Best to keep using these or get different levers that will not require as much tweaking.

There is adjustment at the beginning of the caliper. I do not see adjusters at the levers since the 1970s?

Those Superbe levers were made by DiaCompe and are missing the little rubber covers for the adjusters. Good luck finding any, but if it helps, they should look like this:
