The " I just got hit by a car" thread
Well this is the 1st time I've been hit by a car out of 10 really close calls. Basically I was riding down a side street like 5 metres behind a car and out of no where this guy decides to turn into a drive away without signaling or anything. So I just pretty much pulled the both breaks and used my handle bars to scratch the **** out of his car. My knee was a little red but no bruises or anything and I was on my beater bike so I think his car got this worst of it ( i think i ****ed his mirror up too). The guy said sorry and asked if I was alright and I said yeah and left without any hard feelings. Feel free to post your stories

Riding in a bike lane on a 25 mph low traffic residential street. Car pulls up next to me and immediately takes a right. I went flying over the handlebars and car hood. My bike ended up under her right front wheel.
She gets a $80 ticket. I get a broken elbow and a shredded knee cap. Not to mention a couple months of physical therapy and lots of pain. Bike was replaced and medical bills paid.

That's like saying it's your fault if someone passes you on the highway and slams on his brakes upon steering into your lane.

Yeah, but it's the job of the driver to be aware of his surroundings. I assume the car passed him a few seconds prior, so he knew there was a cyclist there.
But who knows. I'll shut up now.

The guy may be a dick for not signaling but if you are behind a car you need to be able to avoid them no matter what they do.

Hit from behind by a driver who swerved for no apparent reason, side swiped into a telephone pole, I was going about 20 - 25 MPH on a slight downhill, ended up in the hospital for a few days, off the bike for about 6 months, luckily no broken bones.
Guy hit around 4 cyclists in a two day period, but was never caught
