Is a gold chain tooooo ostentatious?

Campy NR / SR forever
And the misaligned brake pads & the chain with way too many links in it.
As for the question A Regina Oro Freewheel and matching Oro or Record Oro chain looks great. It's a PITA keeping them clean though.

I know the rep of swaged cranksets.
At nearly 70yo, if I break it, what a bragging point. Never broken a crank or bb.
It's perfect for a Harding/Holdsworth future re-make.
And my Weinmann Delta brakes are going on a bike too.
As many bikes as I've got - if it's almost all Campy + Cinelli, with only a smattering of Huret, Stronglight, Nervar, Modolo, Weinmann, Universal, Carnielly, Zeus, Selcof, Laprade, etc = it needs something 'odd' to spice-it-up.

I bought an NOS, gold Sedis chain a couple of years ago...... I cleaned off the old grease using mineral spirits to get it ready for installation on a French build.........and the gold color actually came off right in front of my eyes while I was cleaning it. Now it looks like a plain grayish silver chain. What the heck??!

Chains and freewheels all end up black in the end. Until then, go big or go home

Styggno1, are you sure you have that crankset drilled out enough? You're going to make drillium dude jealous.
Nice sets of Regina and Campy there.

The Regina Extra Oro chains now seem to fetch $80.
the Regina Oro SC chain, the original version with the radiused side plates- $135- 150
the Oro “Record” drilled side plate chain about $100.
the SC Oro seemed to drop off production when the Oro Record arrived and the Extra Oro was introduced. The Extra was a decent chain but Sedis was ahead by that point.
the Record Oro shifted better than the other Regina chains to date as the “ height” of the side plates was less. Less displacement to effect a shift.
i liked the Everest chains but only used them after I was racing- the versions with the pierced plates- seemed of good quality.
i bought a long time ago 1975, the D.I.D. “ chrome “ chains for my track bike and Road bike parts stash. Styling.
in 1975 I also bought a stainless steel chain HKK? Stretched out way too fast. The cause of my only DNF. New freewheel, warm up was ok- race had steep hill- kept popping off cogs under race pace conditions. Very frustrating.

Gold chains are fine, but should be used with Gold plated cranks, brakes and seatposts, always! That's Jason Perkins' custom build on a Smolinski frame, did I say plated? Yes 24K gold plated components. I don't imagine the chain would be over the top.

On a black bike with gold decals -sure it looks very good although I did once go way overboard with red accents on an old Pug so take my opinion with a grain of salt

But I think,....maybe 'tanwall' Wolfpack tubulars. Virtually no labels on the tire (as far as I can see).
https://wolfpack-tires.com/produkt/tubular/
Now we are talking the important stuff, not just bling.
edit: There will be no carbon hoops on this AD VN, maybe the tires.

Asking "where do I get a freewheel tool" gets normal answers. Questions like "does this bar tape go with ..." gets people bugging you about your cable length.

Dude, you ask a bike-dork question in a place full of OCD bike dorks and you act surprised that they're mentally locked in on the slack chain and stuff.Asking "where do I get a freewheel tool" gets normal answers. Questions like "does this bar tape go with ..." gets people bugging you about your cable length.
I got so triggered I went out and.......
bought some Campy/Nisi 126mm tubular wheels that include Clement tires (that hold air).

I don't generally come to the forum with styling questions - but i'm unduly dallying over a decision.
Perhaps a 2nd question could be: Should the gold chain be paired with a gold-ish freewheel?
Since I've been on the Forum 15 years you know I highly value all opinions, but pictures really tell the tale.
Show those gold colored drivetrain parts
and help me make up my mind on this project.
