The Cat Left Me a "Present"...

...or so I thought.

In the dim glow of the night light I walked into the downstairs bathroom barefoot this morning, and stepped on something small and squishy between the commode and the shower.

With great trepidation and dread, I reached over to the wall, flipped on the light and raised my left foot...

I use the downstairs bathroom to shower and change after my bike commute home. Years ago I put a small section of innertube in my back pack and forgot about it until this morning, when I rediscovered it on the bathroom floor under my foot. I can't remember why I saved it, and I assume it recently fell out of the back pack...although it may still be the work of the cat.

I had a dog come in from outdoors one day, he sat with this strange look on his face, then chucked up a dead mole onto the floor. The wife freaked.

My kitty is available for rent. He knocked over my floor pump in his battle with this one.

A couple of months ago I told my cat that she couldn't bring her fresh kill into the house.
The next day I found a dead mouse in the litter box.
The last one she caught, I think she brought it to the litter box to butcher. All I found was a mouse tail in the litter box.
I'm hoping that is her new thing. If she manages to catch a mouse in the house, she properly disposes of any remains.

Tres Ratones joke

My cat is a comedian. He prepared this elaborate joke for me in the corner of our living room:

Dead mouse, toy mouse, dust mouse. I supplied the second two, he supplied the first, shown here a bit earlier on top of the curtains:

Long ago, the husbeast made the mistake of stepping over a small box in the living room; in the dark, barefoot. Fortunately the rat was already dead.

Couple of years ago the Mrs and I had to make a cross country trip. The morning we left, we found a cardinal head in our bedroom doorway. Nothing else, just the head. Pretty sure it was a message for us since we'd be gone for a couple weeks........

Ever since being a kitten, my cat has hissed and growled at dogs. I don't think she has gotten in a cat/dog fight, but a couple of the dogs that I take her to now completely ignore her (and less hissing).

It would have made a great America's Funniest Videos, but one of the neighbors had a problem that they had 2 dogs that never got along well. One day they had a big dog fight, and were stressing how to safely break it up when Billy the Cat pounced into the middle of the dog fight, and apparently broke it up immediately.

It was cold outside, so I brought my bike project indoors. Took off the cap covering the crankset bolt and put it on the floor. Went to use the bathroom for a few minutes. The cat found it and now the cap is gone. And probably will stay gone until I get under the dark crevasses under the furniture.

Years ago, we had 3 cats and one goofy Golden Retriever, who incidentally, loved cats. One time, the dog sort of cornered the second oldest cat in our living room, trying to play with her. She meowed in complaint a few times. Then, our youngest cat came into the room like a thunderbolt spitting, hissing, and growling like a mad thing backing the poor, terrified dog into a corner. Ironically, that dog and cat were best friends, they really liked each other and used to play together.

Our cat is an indoor only cat.
At night, as we are going to bed, we can hear you tearing around downstairs. She meows. She races all over the place. Then she come up to the bedroom flops on the bed, and calls it a night.
When we wake up in the morning and go downstairs, there is always one of her stuffed toys - usually the stuffed mouse - sitting at the bottom of stairs.
I imagine she is down there, hunting up a storm, while Mrs. NoWhammies and I are getting ready for bed.

indyfabz your cat looks like my our cat Misha, the one who I thought left me a "present".
The day after I posted my entry, Misha stopped eating and drinking. Unbeknownst to us she had already developed pancreatitis. We spent this last week taking her to her vet and the emrgency pet hospital. Despite all the drugs for pain, nausea and to spark her appetite, and saline for hydration, her conditioned worsened as did her pain.

This morning we said goodbye to our sweet girl.

OF course she'd greet me at the door when after I rode home from work. In warmer weather she would be out in the back yard when I rolled in from my commute home. After weekend rides in the summer I would stretch out on a lawn chair on the patio in my bike clothes and she would climb up on my chest and purr as we gazed at Pikes Peak and the foothills west of Colorado Springs.

I just now saw the notices of some of the comments and "likes" which brought me back to this thread. What a difference a week made in the life of our now departed cat. What a difference in our lives that cat made.

So sorry to hear that BobbyG. Coming back from the vet with an empty carrier was an extremely hard thing for me to do. I can imagine what you are going through.

BobbyG, it really does break my heart to read about your lovely kitty. I love kitty cats, I’ve been through what you’re feeling more than once. I’m sorry you lost such a beautiful creature.

Bobby, so sorry to hear this. I always smile when somebody states "dogs are so much more affectionate".

We know different.
