Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The only border crossing that I have under my belt is NY/NJ. I thought about diverting a little out of my way last year to cross in to WI, but decided against it. Maybe that'll be a goal this year. Other than that, though, I'm not terribly close to any other borders. It's probably 100 miles or more to the IA border, and I'm just not crazy enough to tackle that round trip in one day.

It costs $1 more to ride the bus in Le 'couver? You get hosed.

... for a day pass.

Single bus trip in Vanc is $1.65 vs $2.50 in Portland.
Multi-bus trip, with the last leg starting within 2-hours of the first is $2.50 in both locales

Best deal around is the bus from Woodburn to Oregon City - $1 for a 20 mile bus trip !!!

Our winter spinach is ready for the first harvest of the season. These guys have been overwintering in the hoop house,
dormant until the daylight lengthens and the ground thaws. Once the thaw comes, they're ready to go.

And exceptionally good flavor too, having been in the cold for so long. Sauteed with chopped garlic . . . yyyumm!!

Just one of those days... !@#$%^&*()_+)&(*^#@!#^#)%&*(*$^%&$

What is the point in a derailleur hanger ripping off to protect the derailleur if that damned thing is going to get sucked into your wheel?

...and how does one make their bike a single speed to get home? Just throw the chain on the desired cog and go?

Pfffft:

Pfffft:

Well, back before bolt-on derailleur hangers, you'd likely need to take yer bike to a frame builder in this instance.

You need to take a chain break with you to do the SS home thing. A Cool Tool was THE thing to carry BITD.

I've crossed from Spain to Portugal, Croatia to Slovenia, Croatia to Montenegro but the only states that I recall crossing are IA/IL/WI/IL/IA in one day.
