One ride this weekend, 65 miles Saturday, starting at sunset and finishing around midnight. Too hot and humid in daytime. Good ride, lots of rural homes shooting off their own fireworks.
Good ride but painful to walk Sunday. Strained my back and hip lifting a neighbor who fell Thursday. Still pretty stiff and sore so I'm taking it easy, mostly walking and stretching.

Short somewhat slow ride with son on the Chisa Fouka trail that runs more or less along the Natchez Trace parkway. Did this on Saturday. Nothing Sunday as I waited too long and afternoon showers hit. Friday I was going to do 40 or so miles, but flatted at mile 11 and decided to call it a day.
I'll have to do better next week, these were the only two days I rode this week. Pitiful.

Sunday, did a long-but-not-too-long ride, hoping to reach home before the afternoon sun was full on. Rode to the airport to look at planes taking off and landing, but unfortunately during these times they are a rare sight. Then it got pretty hot by 10am, and the ride back was pretty miserable because of it.
Before the pandemic, we used to see maybe one plane landing overhead every now and then, but is now quite empty and quiet:

I didn’t check the air quality before I rode off at 7:30 am Sunday morning for a solo ride. When I got home all my biking buddies were texting why they weren’t riding today. I checked the air quality and it was “Hazardous”. All the fireworks last night really polluted the air in SoCal. It sounded like a war zone with all the illegal fireworks going nonstop for 8+ hours. I’m in the West San Gabriel Valley section near Pasadena. I felt fine during my 24 mile ride and my heart rate was normal.

35 miles, a bit over 2000 feet of climbing. Same ride I've been doing every Sunday for the last 6 weeks. This time on a new bike! Canyon Endurace, with disc brakes and 105 kit. This was it's longest ride yet, and the fastest out of all 6 runs on this route, which means either I'm getting stronger or the bike really rocks, or both. I thought I might still be tired from a fast 26 on Friday, but surprised myself.

I rode 60 miles today, which is the farthest I've ridden in a very long time. I ride single-speed, and my previous max was about 40 miles, but I recently upgraded my wheeelset and the new wheels have Phil Wood hubs which roll so much better than my bike's stock wheelset . . . so I extended it today to 60.
I know the roads well enough, but didn't realize the extra distance took me down a road that included almost a mile of BRICK, which was slippery in the rain. Otherwise the only concern was riding into a stiff headwind on the return, which is always a bear on a single-speed bike.

I was on vacation this past week and back in the Ocala Nat. forest. I did a whole bunch of bike riding. Sunday 42 miles. Monday 41 miles. Tuesday 32 miles. Thursday 35 miles. Friday 42 miles. Saturday 41 miles. It was hot as heck, and some days were better than others. Kind of an odd week. I found a smart phone that was too damaged to find out the owner. Found a wallet and was able to get back to owner (he was very happy). Almost ran over a coral snake. Unexpectedly saw some manatees. Got flagged down by a guy who's BMW sports car was stuck in the sand. Really stuck up to its wheels and belly. There's no way I could push him out, but made sure his phone was connected. The last day I got a flat, changed the tube and was able to nurse my way home. Also got in some time at the springs. They felt really good in the heat.

I got a late start yesterday and it was hot. Managed 52 miles but my two bottles were not enough in the 90+ heat.
I got out today around 7:30 and got in a quick 40 miles before the heat gets bad. Felt much better today.

Got out at 8:17pm Saturday on the 2018 Roubaix Expert to begin my FULL MOON RIDE. Moon rising and sun setting was a short time after beginning the ride and was riding under the FULL MOON at 12:44AM. The Moon was at 100% and gorgeous. Kept riding until I hit the 70 mile mark, my birthday age on Friday, then rode a 12 mile TT for the 9th week of the 2020 Cruzbike 12 mile TT Challenge. Completed the TT then rode slow and easy back home for 101 miles with only 1 foot touch, had to stop the bike to look at phone's Google Maps.
If all goes well this week I will be out at 12:01AM on Friday to begin my Birthday Bike Ride. As in the past I plan to double my age and add 1 extra mile.

I did a 200 km (125 miles) ride on Friday, starting at 12:01 in AM. With one hour of sleep, and it was my 112th consecutive day riding. This was my second century ride, the last one was about 18 months ago. Completed the 125 miiles in 8 hours, 6 minutes. Average speed of 15.4 MPH. The route was pretty flat...laps on a three mile section of MUP. It was fun. Almost.
