Drones & Bikes
Anyone else fly drones here? Ever since I bought a bike a few weeks ago I have been constantly flying my drone by the lake (Lake Elsinore) close to our house. I have lived in this area for 5 years and had never been to this part of the lake. If it weren't for the pandemic and gyms closing down I probably wouldn't have bought a bike in the first place as well and done some exploring. I guess this is the silver lining of 2020

Very nice video! Makes me want a drone, but there aren't many drone-worthy views around me.

Nice video work.
I do have a drone but very little practice on it. I would need A LOT more practice before I get to your level. Right now I'm just happy my little drone is a tough one and can handle all my crashes.
Check out some of Ryan Van Duzer's videos. He has many bike focused videos that involve drone vids. Those are fairly impressive, too.

Thanks guys! I wish I could take all the credit but a lot of the shots I did weren't very difficult especially if your drone has some sort of follow me mode or subject tracking. I'll have to check out Ryan's videos as I do want to create more bike content for sure. Maybe i'll pick something up. Thank you for the suggestion!

Love flying drones. Sold all my toys before the bottom falls out of the market. Keep an eye on the new regulations coming down on drones for next year. If the FAA gets there way it will all but end the hobbyist, which will be very sad.

What drone are you using? I just picked one up (Holy Stone HS100) that has the minimal requirements for the least amount of money to try to learn with. I may upgrade in the future if I like it and get better at it.
I'm going to try the follow me mode somewhere safe soon. Just need to get someplace really open the first few times.

I tried to like Ryan Van Duzer's videos, but something about his (to me) overly earnest personality, especially since his gf left, I just can't bring myself to watch anymore. Overhead drone shots are no more compelling than the stereotypical fireplace interview shots. In the end, it's whether or not the personality is engaging. A drone won't help that. I do enjoy his ride narratives, up to a point.

huh interesting. People usually use GoPro cameras. I do understand that for a scenic shot I would need something like a drone. I have actually been thinking of getting one for both me and my brother since we travel a lot (or at least we used to) and there are so many things we can see and capture using a drone. I have been thinking about it for a while now and I think that it will be an amazing gift for his birthday. I usually use him as the technical specialist and allow him to pick everything but since it is a surprise I needed to figure it out myself. I was lucky enough to come across this really cool blog here: buyersimpact.co.uk ad they had this amazing post about drones. I used it as a stating point and and was able to bu the perfect gift. It's in my closet under my shoes now hidden until his birthday. I think he will love it hehe
