Strava & "Age Discrimination"

Looks like strava (lower case is worthy) is going to continue ignoring the older riders. Finally adding more age groups but they stopped at 75!!!!! OK - as a workaround we can form a club with BF and an age like 77.5 as part of the name. If we promote the club enough we won't need premium to see how we are doing. Looking for ideas and suggestions. Let the idea roll.

have you contacted Strava to see if they would be willing to add older groups?

Why do you need an age group. I ride with my club and my Garmin uploads to Strava. Why do I need more than that?

No idea what you're going on about. Age isn't a factor when I use Strava.

Nor for me. I never check age categories.

Ditto. I don't use age categories. Isn't that a premium option?

Yeah, it's premium only. I don't get it either, and it's only for segments. Without premium you can sort on men/women, I'm following, and clubs, but not age or weight. @ctpres apparently wants to gage himself against other over-75 year-olds on his segments... I guess that might be some kind of ego boost, but it sounds more like he's trying to define some category that will give him the edge, rather than "competing" in an existing category where he doesn't do as well.

There's already a 70+ group on Strava which has 17 members. You can start your own 75+ group (club) if you want but I don't know how many Strava users are over 75 that will be in that group for you to compete with. Maybe a few from the 70+ will switch over.

i'll ask them to create a "get off my lawn" age group, and the O.P. can join that one.

If there are going to be any Strava age groupings, what is the reason for not including the full age range of Strava participants? And, if someone does not find age-related information useful, well while you may not, others do. Just don't look....

Strava and Age Discrimination

Although I see the benefit in adding more age ranges, I can no longer compare my times on segments as easily. At 75 I have been in the 65+ group and compete with all of them. My first places in 65+ are now gone and I have lots of first places in 75+ where I pretty much compete with myself.

OP Here: I guess I am too old and just don't like being ignored. Maybe when y'all reach upper 70's - thinking will change. Promise not to bring it up again.

Dropped Strava on the last hill

Dropped Strava several years ago, could we sue them for age discrimination?
Now I just use Garmin Express / Connect.

They aren't preventing you from using their product.
