Jim, and All,
The Velodrome in Indianapolis was named after Major Taylor, and during my stint at Bicycle Garage Indy we could ride from the shop in Castleton Square to the velodrome at the end of the day on Friday. We raced on bikes that were cooked together with bad brazing and no paint but we were able to race in a great venue. Many memories were made there and we even got to meet and speak with the likes of Nelson Vails who raced there. It should be a great documentary! Smiles, MH

A few years back ,I was riding on the San Gabriel River bike trail near Lakewood , I caught up to a Dreadlocked older Black Cyclist and said Good Morning. We talked for awhile as we were both headed to Seal Beach . I remarked that he looked alot like Rashaan Bahati the local Crit Racer , He Relied, "I should he's my Son" ,,,What !! LOL.
Anyway he asked if I knew who Major Taylor was, I replied , "Yes, Ive been doing this cycling thing for awhile now im pretty familiar with Him" . He mentioned that he was in the process of making a full length Hollywood movie as He is a Film Producer . He also said that they had John Howard working as a technical advisor on the film , and that Mr. Howard had several of Major Taylors personal items. He mentioned a few Black Actors that were in the running to play the Lead ,,things were getting finalized .
You never know who you might run into on a bike ride.

I do have an Ambrosio adjustable-reach stem on one of the Capo Siegers, but someone corrected me when I called it a Major Taylor stem, because those adjust at the front/handlebar end (good idea) instead of the back/steerer tube end.

Well worth watching. I have some minor quibbles with it, but mostly I enjoyed it and am glad Major Taylor is getting some well-deserved recognition.
It is especially worth watching via YouTube and skipping through what Dennis Miller once called the "'strap the rat cage on my face' pledge breaks." (Everyone I know hates those. I have read that the people who appear in them are also, shall we say, less than fond of them, but they keep doing them because (sigh) they work.)

Yes -- it was great to learn more about his other talents and his personality. No wonder my favorite American president, TR, held him in high regard as a man of accomplishment. Major Taylor was a class act all the way.
