I just watched it, skipping over the tiresome and excessively, offensively lengthy PBS pledge BS (no, angering and alienating your audience is not the way to get more members or more money out of the ones you have), and I learned quite a bit about this American hero. Taylor was a genuine class act.

If it weren't effective, they'd probably stop doing it after some fifty years.

Has anyone thanked the PBS affiliate for producing this doc that now has at least two threads on it?

I have not yet and may not watch the documentary, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the biography "MAJOR" written by Todd Balf. As a matter of fact, it's not the kind of book I would plan to keep around forever and is in a pile to be parted with. If anyone wants to PM me to receive a hardcover copy for the price of shipping, early bird gets the worm!

John, we're all adults in the room and time to put your spoiled entitlement into a box.
What's it to you that's so difficult to view for free, a program and that you can't lift your finger to scroll past the pledge or adverts? Jeez

If they didn't believe (with or without proof) is was effective, they would probably stop doing it. I'll bet 2-minute interruptions would be far more effective than the usual 5-10 minute runs.

SurferRosa ,
I do participate in the local PBS stations as a continuing donor. They have sent me a few notes about the making of the documentary which I posted earlier. I am not sure whether this answers your question, but from here they do get support. Smiles, MH
