WTB: Water Bottle Cages (plural)

EDIT/UPDATE: A year later, could use a few more of these for projects I am working on!

Well, I've tried some others, but I really like the design pictured, and want to transition my bikes over to this type. I like the plastic bottle-retaining clip; some I've seen use plastic where the cages attach to the frame -- not a fan of that. So, I am presuming there are a fair number of these lingering in parts stashes, no? Looking to buy several, don't have to be all at once, this is a bit open-ended. As almost none of my bikes have cage braze-ons, I'm also going to need clamps (indeed, the one I have, pictured, is missing its clamps!) Look on eBay, there are some there, and there and over the years, i've seen the plastic part white, translucent, black, blue (are there red or yellow? I have applications for those too!). Does not have to be OEM in a bag, but I am not looking for extreme-patina either. Whatcha got?

I don't have any extra bottle cages, but Velo Orange has old-schoolish strap mounts for five bucks.

Good luck finding a TA water bottle cage. They were terrific and they are very difficult to find. I have one and I installed it on my 1982 Peugeot PXN 10. I'd love to find another for a 70s era Mercier 300 I'm rebuilding but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks. I actually have a set on one bike. Not thrilled, the metal is so thin it has little rigidity where the bolts to attach to the frame mount.

If one surfaces, great. Looking on eBay, all the ones advertised as TA have the name molded into the plastic clip. Mine does not. It looks like there have been myriad knock-offs, like the one I am holding. Detailing on the plastic, in terms of markings, seems to vary rather a lot.

I have this one, most likely a TA knock-off but I will check for a logo, AND comes with the groovy vintage water bottle (with "shower cap")!

It's later than I'm going to go look, but pretty sure I have some out in the shop, probably of the knock-off variety.
I'll come back tomorrow after work with some pics,

Looks like it will polish up nicely. That bottle's graphics look very familiar! Alas, so far, any old bottle I've tried looks right but the plastic so brill they leak or crack, especially at the cap.

No rush -- I presume this is a longer-term project before I secure all the cages and clamps I'll want for my bikes. One at a time is fine unless someone has a major hoard they want to dispose of.

Still shopping; again, no rush. I have two on the way, possibly a third but I have not heard a confirmation of acceptance yet.

"Thanks, did you come up with price, etc.?"

^Sorry I had a closer look and was not very confident about selling this/these, but that should be your call: the cage is definitely NOT an original TA nor of very robust materials or construction, no logo anywhere on it.
It ain't broke yet but I don't think it's built to last either.
Likewise that bottle (and caps) is aged plastic so might also be due to crack before too long.

That said, if you are still interested (after my brilliant sales pitch in reverse) LMK and I'll come up with a price or a trade list of "things worth about the same".

I have a single TA cage, matte aluminum, black clip, no mount clips. Good condition with some scratches. If anyone's interested pm me.

I think I bought up all on from responders up to that point, but a year later I am working on some projects and could use a few more! And see my other topic on WBT small parts, probably handier for both you and me if purchases could be combined. Or not.

Funny, most co-ops have water bottle cages in a dollar bin.

As a volunteer, when a REG or TA cage come in, I just grab it.

Silly, for such a spindly little thing, they take up more room than chainrings.

Try a co-op, then message me.

Overall, a great idea. I knew of one but have not visited yet, <1/2 hour away. So, checking, open three hours per WEEK on Sundays only (looking at map location, perhaps operating out of someone house?). A Google search reveals it's the only one in the state? Wow. I see there are some more co-ops in the next state over, but hoping that BF C&V members have these "underfoot".

You can find them if you look hard enough for them.....but you will pay a lot for NOS or good condition....
I got a pair made by REG last year from two different eBay sellers. Pretty much the same design as pictured by the OP but the frame is all aluminum and the bottle retainer horns are in black plastic.

So tonight I went to the co-op and I think I have "Old Tiger" covered. He just needs to contact me, and pay for shipping from middle Indiana. Smiles, MH

Probably six of the cages in question. If no response they will join a truck bed of other scrap metal going to the scrapyard.

Wow! Kinda hard to argue with that! Enough to finish these projects, and a few beyond. Longer term, I wonder if the chrome shop not-too-far-away is still in business and can pretty-up a few of the rougher ones!

Glad you took care of him

I volunteered at the co-op today. Found five rag and TA bottle cages in various states of rust.

I also found some of those aluminum ones that people were mentioning. I questioned their rigidity.
