Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? it fits real well, the sleeves just barely start to overlap my hand. I'm 34 waist and it is a little loose all around, but not by much. It's a sweater, not a jersey. But looking at it again, just a small alteration and it could fit like a jersey.

It isnt something I might wear much this spring and summer, but it should be great for next autumn and winter.

Some crazy eBay auction deals on blemished Vilano framesets > https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Includes headset, seatpost and clamp, and bottom bracket. I picked one up for $29, but the deals are really crazy on the 54cm ones.

Those are the sloppiest welds I've ever seen on a production item. How was the frame that came to you?

I got a green one, the fork was garbage, but I had an extra chrome one. Everything else seemed fine, even the welds weren't as bad as cheap alu frames. They were pretty un-obnoxious in fact.

For 40 bucks, I'm pretty happy. It will be a nice steel companion to my alu langster.

The welds weren't bad at all. Better actually than the ones on my bd Moto Messenger (aka naranja). The paint blemishes were pretty minor, although the paint job is pretty crude. The real problem was that the rear dropout spacing was waaaaay off, about 112mm, which should be 120mm. I broke out my large crescent wrench, a 2 x 4 and a large rubber mallet and cold set it to about 118mm so that I could get the rear wheel installed. The other problem was that the BB adjustable cup was installed crooked, cross threaded and not screwed all the way in. Since the BB seems to be secure and the spindle turns smoothly, I decided not to try and re-install the adjustable cup, lest I do further damage to the frame BB threads. The headset is really cheap and the bottom headtube cup is not a tight fit in the headtube, so it rocks back and forth when the front brake is used. The frame head tube is not flat and parallel, so it really could use facing. It's a good thing that a seatpost is supplied, because it is 25.4mm, normally a BMX size. I just finished up the build this morning.
