2019 LA Marathon Crash Ride
Anyone doing it this year? Happening this weekend. It should be a little warmer this year(in the 50s instead of the 40s).

Considered doing it since I am no longer doing the Lobster Ride.
Don't think I will do it since I have tentative plans for Sunday, but if I did, I would crash the crash ride. 4am start is ridiculous. It was 5am in 2016/2017 and it is a far better time to go for many reasons.

Personally, I think 4AM is awesome. Plenty of time to do the ride, catch light rail back to the start and have breakfast while watching the marathon pass by.

With a 4am rollout, you will arrive in Santa Monica in darkness, completely ruining the "finish line" mood. Every coffee shop will still be closed.
Two years ago I simply made it a century since it was still early, but there was sunlight. After arriving in darkness last year, there was no way I was going up PCH. Too cold at that time as well.

I did th early rollout last year. Started in the dark and finished in the dark. Got home before the wife even noticed I was gone.

y'know, the only thing you can smell that early are the donut/doughnut stores. kinda like cycling around at lunchtime and smelling breweries-but worse.
donut stores are evil and delicious and totally justify being awake (and cycling!!) at an ungodly hour. dü it. i could still hit a tommy's tho...
