Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Savannah

Update bump for the upcoming ride/gtg on the site. My other thread was moved to hell or something for some reason.
Anyway, this is just a FYI in case anyone doesnt see it in time.

There are a ton of them there. When are you going and for how long.
As for a scene? I wouldn't call it that. I lived there for about 2.5 years and left there in November.

edit. oh yeah. Bring a lock.... or two. strong locks. If you don't lock your bike, it WILL get stolen.
and lights are important. The cops will stop you if you don't have them on at night.

Left school and came back home. I'm going down there in August for a few days to meet up with some friends.
Places to go
Bars: Pinkie Masters AKA Pinky's. Best [non-internet]jukebox in town and cash-only
B&B's when its not busy.
The Jinx, thursday dance nights are pretty awesome. basically a hipster dance party.
Hangfire, next to sweet melissa's Newer bar.
Coffee: gallery espresso and the sentient bean.
I don't know how long you'll be there for, but you can pretty much explore the whole downtown area[everything north or park street] in like a day or two.
If you eat meat, go to sweet melissa's. BEST ****ING CHICKEN FINGERS YOU'LL EVER HAVE. The dude that owns the place is awesome.
I used to work for savannah pedicab, so if you take a pedicab ride anywhere, tip well.

does not surprise me at all. I found a heroin spoon once the street once. I didn't keep that.... or touch that. My first few days in Savannah I smelled crack. The sun was still out.

a guy tried to sell me money for crack here my second night, after my roommate gave him a couple of dollars for a beer.

there's not a whole lot going on here right now due to most everyone being back home, but that also means a lot less traffic.

traffic never really bothered me since I always road my bike. The worst is 330am on a friday or saturday night. Since bars close AT 3, drunk drivers galore and most of them are trying to get to I-16.

My car had to get fixed and I made it to the Ford dealership from downtown in about 20 minutes. It takes longer by car, because of lights. That really made me wonder why I even had a car down there. I tried to talk my parents into keeping it up here. That didn't happen.

Oh
That makes no sense because the thread wasnt about a ride or a race. It was about a fixed gear forum.
