Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I'd offer 700. It's nothing special, just a bareknuckle. He'll probably say, "That's too low, my headset was $120 on it's own!" Tell him he can keep the headset, get a Ritchey WCS which is basically the same thing (and costs like $50).

Odds are you'll end up replacing the saddle / pedals (if you have some you ride often) so you can also tell him to keep that to lower the price. Primarily the saddle though, because you want something that is comfortable to you. Pedals you could probably flip for a decent price.

Be sure to say things like, "Cash in hand!" and "I really want this as long as it checks out" - often times, I've found that things like that give me priority on CL over other people... "You were the first who had the cash" or "Other people responded, but weren't that interested"

you could always try talking him down to 800, and selling the pedals and saddle afterwards. i think it looks fine. your standard craigslist bareknuckle on deep-vs.
