Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Credit Card Problems Widespread

Did a quick check of the news- (popped this in under a new subject to alert more folks)

https://www.scmagazineus.com/Visa-cla...rticle/128104/

https://searchfinancialsecurity.techt...349611,00.html

So.... it might not be our favorite retailers.

My Credit Union sent me a new card proactively last week because they were notified by 3rd party approval company for Visa that their systems had been compromised. No charges had been made but they took actions to my account, thankfully.

Yup, Obama wants the gov't to buy out, or buy up, Citi Bank, in his push for socialism, and now credit cards are having problems everywhere.

I has some activity on a card a couple of weeks ago. The Einstein used my info and his own name and home shipping address in another state to have the stuff delivered to.

All the companies held the orders and contacted either me on my cell number since it was on the order, or my bank, before posting the charges.

The guy was the late night front desk clerk at the hotel I stayed at while my daughter was on college recruiting trip. He's in a bit of trouble from my bank, two major electronic retailers, and me.

@pabuck - no, Truliant FCU but they probably use the same approval house as SECU.

I had my wallet placed in the safe at the hospital when I was bed-bound for a week. While I was there, a ring leader (who had access) went into the safe, took my cc's out and distributed them to his cronies for shopping sprees.

Like I posted in the other thread, my CC company called and asked if I had charged tickets on an Air Arabia flight. Somehow, they weren't surprised when I told them no.

My bank cancelled my credit card and sent me a new one last week. Apparently someone had tried to make a $1 purchase from an online retailer using the card number. According to the bank some crooks run software to randomly generate potential credit card numbers and then try to make small purchases online to validate them.

That sucks. Where I work, we take valuables, list them on a document and seal them (with a witness) into a numbered envelope. The patient gets a numbered stub; the sealed envelope is locked in the safe by Security. On discharge, the patient stops by the cashier, who removes the sealed envelope matching the patient's numbered stub from the safe, the envelope is opened and contents compared to the list prepared at admission. If anything is missing, or the seal is broken, it is the hospital's responsibility to replace it.

what do breaches at payment processors have to do with road cycling?

i don't think those articles are remotely related to the ribble issues people were having. just sayin.

Credit Cards are a big part of road cycling. Without them, half of the roadies would be without their carbon wonder bikes

In my case, a payment processor used by some of the online stores I was buying from was hacked. I had to cancel my card and get a new one.
