Do you keep your phone on and surf / respond to texts when riding?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

it depends on the purpose of the ride

i ride with my phone on unless I know that i have poor cell coverage. For my last charity ride I had poor reception so I put it in air plane mode. I would turn cellular on at the rest stop. When I am riding to and from work, I use Road ID for my wife's peace of mind. I also like to be abler to take a picture or two. I don't check twitter or Instagram on phone unless on wifi plus i don't have notifications on except for the local trail groups to post if the trails are closed or not (based on the weather)

Racers finishing the Pro Men's race.

No with a caveat

I use my phone for GPS and Music when solo.

Occasionally I will take a call if needed, but no txts.

Yet here we are, and you seem to have been compelled to participate. Funny how things work out sometimes.

On a brevet, my phone comes out at stops two or three times a day, to let my wife know I'm okay. Other than that, it's stowed in a waterproof bag.

I love it when my world shrinks down to the road, effort, drinking, eating, the next turn, and distance to the next stop. Outside interruptions burst that bubble.

My phone stays in my pocket, on silent, when I'm riding. I have MMR on so my wife can see where I am but that's all.
