Transformation into a rider.

Just wanted to hopefully encourage any of you guys wanting to lose weight by starting biking again. I have been going through an amazing transformation in the last year and the bike has been the number one tool in my quest to get fit.

Not much for you guys I'm sure but this was after 10 miles that afternoon on old forest roads. Had the wife along and didn't push too hard but we are having a blast. Took this by an abandoned farm house

You're not half the man you used to be, weight-wise.

Literally. It'll be a relief not eating for two any more.

Wow, those photos look like two different people. Congratulations.

My neighbor lost 100 lbs with diet and exercise. He said his life was completely changed.

I just wanted to share with you guys because I am now 51. Both those pictures were taken in August one year apart. I know sometimes when we get older we give up changing radically. I just wanted anyone to know it is possible even if you start at 50.

Last August I quit all sugar, all grain, and potatoes. That was it. I ride around 50 miles a week now and am getting stronger every ride. I weighed 330 in that picture at the creek with my boy and weigh 178 now. I am 6'1" tall. I was wearing 48/32 jeans and now I wear 30/32's.I'm off three blood pressure meds and 4 pain pills a day. I am still losing weight, but getting stronger according to my riding and lifting.

Damn ... huge difference! Losing that kind of weight is rare and not at all easy. Congrats to you and your family!

Thanks everyone. I'm probably more ashamed that I let myself get in bad shape, than I am proud of losing weight. I tell my story though because I know how easy it is to get heavy and give up getting it off.

Ay chihuahua! Very obviously the skinny twin/fat twin trick. That’s how stage magicians did it back in the day...

But, seriously, you have lost a ton of weight. Incredible you did that in a year. Congratulations!

You sir, are an inspiration to us all.

Phenomenal ! Congratulations and thanks for the inspirational sharing.
I started riding last year in mid July at 202 pounds and 5'10 and 68 yrs old. Today I am 190 lbs even. 12 pounds in a year and I was pleased with myself until I read this lol.

Thatís really incredible. I bet your portions are reduced as well??? Not to get too personal but are there any issues with excess skin? The reason I ask is I had a cycling friend who lost similar amounts of weight as you and he needed some minor surgery to address that issue.

When I want to lose a few more pounds I concentrate on sugars, bread and potatoes as well. Weight just seems to drip away.

BTW, I lost 60 lbs from my peak at around age 50 and have managed to stay around 165-170 for the last 16 years. Itís definitely a lifestyle change. 6í 1Ē as well but probably smaller frame than you.

Keep up the great activities!!!

That is GREAT, I bet you feel fantastic! I am a 53 year old woman also on a weight loss journey. I’m down 65#’s in the last 8 months and have been averaging 2#’s a week. I’m guessing I have maybe another 50-60#’s to go, I’m not really sure until I get there. I have done it by diet exclusively until a couple of weeks ago when I decided to take up bicycling for better fitness. I look forward to looking as great as you sometime next year!
