That's always a good weekend. The family is at the inlaws on the Rivah. The 1/2 marathon is the Patrick Henry in Ashland. Kings Dominion amusement park is 10 minutes from there. I run the 1/2, get something to eat and head to Kings Dominion. I shower/clean up in their dressing room and change into a swim suit/tech shirt. I reapply sunscreen and ride the coasters before they get crowded. Then I go to the water park, ride the lazy river, cool my heels and ogle the scenery.(with dark glasses on of course) I stay till late afternoon then come home and take a nap. The Moonlight ride starts at 8 that night. I get up in time to make it to that event. It's a good day. For those that don't know, most of the schools in this area don't go back to school until after Labor Day. Supposed it is because of the unofficial amusement park rule. It gives the amusement parks the opportunity to have the labor force for 1 more week. Also 1 more week of crowded parks with people spending money.

I volunteered to work/marshal at the Pink Power Tri this weekend. Tough job, but someone has to do it.

I will be riding the Turbo to it. It took a while to get the parts together. High quality 124.5 BB spindles are in short supply. Putting it together today. Still undecided about silver or black rims. It will wear black this weekend. I have set of 6402 hubs here awaiting the decision.

Preparing for the half Ironman my Aug training schedule has changed.
M,W I swim 45 minutes in the morning before wife goes to work. Then when wife gets home i run 45 minutes (5miles) then bike 18, 20, or 26 miles on my Classic or Miami Vice Ironman.
Tue and Thu I lift weights then swim 30 minutes before wife goes to work. I run 30 minutes when wife gets home.
Fri run 5 miles or ride 26 miles on my Ironman.
Sat run 8,10, or 12 miles (depends on wife's plans for me)
Sun ride 50 or 60 miles on my Carbon Ironman.
That all will change
in Sept when my daughter goes to daycare 2 days a week.
Right now the biggest thing is my weight and I'm now on a diet to get down to at least 165 lbs by the half Ironman. It's day 4 but getting easier.
Today I get to eat PIZZA!
My diet is just eating the same thing and the same amount everyday except Friday at which point I get to eat PIZZA or Spaghetti.
It's hot cereal with sugar (yay) maybe coffee for breakfast.
Tuna for lunch.
Salad with boiled eggs mixed in for dinner. Yep, a lot of fun.

So, you'll live longer on that diet.

Bahaha, good one RT.
Yeah on the third day I was thinking I'd rather be fat and happy than thinner and miserable. Fortunately the plan is just to get to 165 lbs or less then maintain with as much exercise as it takes to stay there. So 15-20 lbs and I'm done.

Since I pulled the triple drivetrain off to put on my blue & white Expert for Ragbrai I needed something for my Purple Haze Ironman. I came up with this Dura-Ace setup 39-53 chain rings & 11-28 cassette. Works really nice.
7800 Dura-Ace

88 Master

Appears 10, and there are a couple versions of DA 10-sp DT shifters out there. 7800/7850/7900. All work quite well.

Yes its 10 speed. The shifters are 7900. They are still available new and work well. I have them on the Expert too and they work great with a triple as well. These bikes are sweet with a modern drive train.

Red Turbo , I love em' . Not mine and if it was I would fix the seat stay . Plus doubts' on it being a 56 . Question did Turbos ever come stock with aero levers ? Edit : a quick look @flesliders site , and I see it did not .

Not really bike related update

I and have been sidelined for a bit I had a cataract removed and a Toric lens put in my left eye yesterday. I know most of the Irongents are a little older than the average cyclist so maybe it is of interest to some. So far I have mixed feelings about it. I can see better at distance from that eye but bright lights make a glare like streak so that kind of sucks, maybe it will go away. My near vision is not real good yet in that eye and sucks in the eye that is still original so I am having a little trouble reading. The doc said my near vision will take several days to improve. On the bright side he said I can ride in the Hotter 'N Hell 100 that is just a week away. He and his nurse both ride so I am taking his word for it. If anyone is interested in how things turn out PM me or ask here. I get the right eye done in three weeks and am hoping I have X-ray vision like I always wanted when I saw the adds in the back of the comic books. If it was available then for a few dollars that you could earn from selling Grit magazine just think of what I can have now for a few thousand more.

Well since it's only been a day and there's hope it will improve, I'd consider myself lucky. Also it still sounds like an improvement over the cataract condition.
I've been pretty fortunate with my vision in that I've never needed prescription glasses. Although after I turned 40 I've needed reading glasses. I always joke that's why I have a younger wife, so she can read the menu at restaurants for me.
In the last several years I've experienced some floaters in my eye. However I attribute that to getting punched in the head weekly....very weakly.
Best Wishes for a speedy recovery and looks like the HTH Will live up to it's name this year.

Hopefully things work out. What's the projected weather for the HNH? Really hot, or D@m hot? My brother said it's been hot up there lately.
On an unrelated note, our training run yesterday morning started out overcast, 72 degrees, 92% humidity and fog. So soupy, my glasses stayed fogged up nearly the whole run. At the end my shoes were filled with so much moisture, I thought I had been running in the rain.
On a somewhat related note, a runner got hit last weekend. The car blew a light, hit her then took off. The police are looking for the car. The runner suffered some broken bones and related injuries, but will recover. Be careful out there. The drivers don't care.

I ran into a snag assembling the Turbo. One of the headset seals is gone. Luckily, one of the things my business does is repair pneumatic air tools. I should have an O-ring that will work. It might look different, but should do the job. Working on it now.

It appears that a Spotnail o-ring P-64231 will work. It doesn't bind or come off of the slot when assembled. If someone needs any I can supply.
