Di2 Battery Check Issue?

Greetings,

Have a question about my Shimano Di2 battery check lights. I recently updated the firmware on my Shimano Di2 Ultegra R8050. When I check the battery charge status, the bike is stationary and I have the front chainring on the large sprocket/gear. When I hold the left shift lever as to shift the chain onto the front large sprocket/gear, the green battery charge light illuminates indicating a fully charged battery, which is the correct expected indication.

However, since updating the all the components to the latest Di2 firmware, after releasing the shift lever, the green light turns off, and within one second, the green AND the red lights illuminate and the front derailleur moves as if to trim, and then both green and red lights shut off. I can't find any information about this behavior/indication on the Shimano website and this is not mentioned anywhere in the Di2 Dealer Manual. I will add that the Di2 shifts perfectly when riding outdoors. Any ideas why this is occurring? Is this indication related to Di2 system problem. Thanks in advance.

A solid green light does not mean 100% charged. It means the system is from 76% to 100% charged.
  • Solid green = 76 to 100 percent charged
  • Flashing green = 51 to 75 percent charged
  • Solid red = 26 to 50 percent charged
  • Flashing red = 1 to 25 percent charged

The second set of lights indicates the shift mode.
  • Green and red flash once = manual shift mode
  • Green and red flash twice = semi syncro shift mode
  • Green and red flash thrice = full syncro shift mode

My first post.
Just got the S works Roubaix, control box in the handlebar, battery in the seat post.

When I go to check the battery level, I press the shift levers the green light comes on, goes off and green and red come on, do not blink and then shut off after 2 seconds. This is not programming mode because Iím pressing for a second.

Do you know why this is happening?

My older Roubaix Expert has the old style battery under the crank and is is so much more simple with no programming

Did you read the above posts?

The second set of lights indicates the shift mode.
  • Green and red flash once = manual shift mode
  • Green and red flash twice = semi syncro shift mode
  • Green and red flash thrice = full syncro shift mode

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I guess I didnít perceive the red and green coming on as a blink. I guess I have to get used to the new DI2.
