1977 Schwinn Superior
N+1 is currently out of control, and it’s time for one to go. I’m trying to decide which one. I’m between my Schwinn Tempo and this 77 superior. The superior has the rare and cool factor, but I like the ride of the Tempo better.
The rear rack and Brooks saddle will stay with me.
Overall, the bike is in fantastic condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. I gave it a complete overhaul about 8years ago and have barely ridden it since then. The tires could stand to be replaced.
There is an area on the non drive side of the head tube where a nice chunk of paint is missing. There is no rust, but it’s worth mentioning. I also made a drive side superior decal because it was missing. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid 7/10.
This bike is pretty much catalog original.
-Schwinn approved brakes, stem, hubs and front derailleur.
-Schwinn Letour (crane) rear derailleur.
-Nervar double crank
-Huret down tube shifters.

There was a time when I coveted a Superior, and this is the prettiest one I've ever seen. It might even fit. But I've sworn off N+1.

There was one I turned down on FB marketplace which was in better shape than this cosmetically. I know the seller has been trying to sell it for a while at $300. There is one that has been on eBay for a long time now at $450. There is a schwinn sports tourer that has been sitting on the local CL for around 2 years at $250 but it is not as nice a bike as this superior.
I'd value this at around $250. It does have some paint but it is also a cool green.

I love these old Schwinns but in my experience they tend to be priced high and sit for a long time.

Just a follow up, post sale data point. I listed my Superior for $300, 11 days ago. I got some interest each time I renewed the listing. I feel like I could have gotten the asking price if I chose to wait.
However, I got an offer at $225 today and accepted it. The timing worked out well today, so it made the decision easy enough.
