1983 Trek 610?

I picked up a Trek 610 frame today for $10. Serial number makes it a 1983. Some surface rust but should be usable. I was curious about if though - I couldn’t find any mention of the 610 in the 1983 brochure. Is it basically the same as the 1981 version?

Does it look like this? Could be built in ‘83 for the ‘84 sales season. If so congrats. The ‘84 610 is the bike I choose most out of my herd.

Yep that looks like what it is. The 610 on the downtube was scraped off and all the other decals were covered by electrical tape.

I got one too. Worst deal ever. Paid way too much for it so can't really flip it. I decided to keep it as an every day kind of bike but haven't finished cleaning it up 8 years later! At least it has primer on it. I had a local guy who builds his own frames braze some parts on it since one of the POS's drewed the eyelets off. Plan on using it for sport touring.

I did throw some parts on it and rode it for a couple of days.

That’s a 1984. Similar tubing to the 1983, but different paint and the geometry is different, especially for the fork.
