how much should i offer this guy?

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/102665844.html

my dad used to have one of these until i took apart so i figured i might buy him this one till i get around to reassembling the old one, which could be never.
anyway i was thinking $150 and even that seems a bit generous, but i don't want to offend dude who's asking price is $225

Suicide brake levers, and suntour index stem shifters which are no prize.....Try and get if for free..His price is a delusional joke, and around here $50 would be too much, but maybe there are more morons in Philly.

I don't think he'll give it away for free....I agree that $150 would be a very generous offer but my opnion doesn't count and I have no idea if the owner id delusional or merely hopeful.

How bad do you have to make up with your father over his bike? Somethings supercede money.

My guess FWIW is that he'd take an offer between 100-150$ unless somebody else really owes their dad too.

$100 - $150 would be a gettable price in the Bay Area.

Learning can be expensive, either at the school of hard knocks or Harvard Business School.Consider how much it might cost to have a LBS put your fathers bike in working condition. Also consider how much money you might have to put into the bike you are looking at.

I'd offer less than $100. BTW, you'll need to be at least 6'6" tall to ride that thing.

It's a 23" according to the add. Even if it's a bit larger (and it could be), 6'6" is a huge exaggeration.

I'm 6' and can stand over a 25" flat footed. A 23" might be a little small?

Back in 1989 (approx) I gave $150 for a 1984 Marathon, same colors but smaller frame. Sydney has a great point, you have an opportunity to learn it is up to you whether you pay out or step up and reassemble
