I'm on the edge, 5.5mi each way. Interesting to see the right-tailed curve emerging already

Usually the way from home is the shortest, 9 km. On the way back I like to make a bit more km, from 20 to 30.

5 miles by bike... for the first 7 miles I rollerski on a multi-use path, but then when I need to switch to city streets, I switch to bicycle (I keep a bike locked-up at the 7-mile point, and I have a routine to carry the rollerskis, boots & poles). Takes 45-55 minutes of rollerski plus 20 minutes of bike.

17.5 miles one way, same on the way home. Not really any alternate routes to take, and the mileage is enough that I wouldn’t want to extend it any way. But it is very flat, so that helps. 2x a week out of a 4 day work week, fair weather only - no rain or snow for me

I need to train some specific nordic ski movements over summer, in order to not embarass myself in the ski races come January. I used to do separate bike commuting and ski training, but there were "not enough hours in the day," so I am using some of my commute as ski training time.

I always take the direct route to work. 5 miles almost exactly. The route home varies depending on how much time I have and how motivated I'm feeling. Anywhere from 7.5 miles to slightly over 20.
Today, I'm doing a medium route, about 11 miles, but I'll stop at the gym and workout about halfway.

Mine's about 9.75 driveway to bike rack. Going in I don't vary it, but coming home if the weather is nice and I have time I can extend it anywhere up to 20 miles. It's through a park for 80% of it, which is nice because Houston's bike infra is laughable.
If I did do it on the street it's 7.4 miles. But if the cars didn't kill me, the pot holes and busted pavement would.

Just under 25 miles each way. I don't commute too often but I try when the weather is nice. Its a nice mix of offroad, gravel, and road.

One way, i think i fit into the 0-5 mile category. But i ride about 15-25 miles a day. Not sure what the poll is trying to reflect, but it certainly doesn't reflect my mileage.

Mine is just shy of 6 miles one way (9.3 km). All of it through city traffic, including the historical city centre which is full of tourists during the day and evening (it's still faster to cross it than go around). On my return from work I often do a larger loop, sometimes as long as 50 km (72 km being the longest one yet).

My shortest route would be 4 miles but I vary rarely do that one. The bulk of my commuting trips are 6 miles round trip so I chose 5-10. Of course the ones I enjoy the most are the days I use a local rail trail with no bus and that will take me almost 30 round trip.

My shortest route would be 16 mi, but that route is unpleasant (to much traffic). So I take a route of a bit more then 20 miles.
Twice or three times a week

By most direct route from my house it is about 6.25 miles to office from my house. I could take a variety of streets and have option of going kind of "wrong" way initially to get on MUP which adds 1.25 miles to the route. If I use the MUP I get probably 98% of route with a bike lane or on the MUP. I was going the more direct route in AM for time purposes as I was initially still regaining fitness and from being off bike due to recovery from rotator cuff surgery. That route had a very long street with NO bike lane except for very short section. I had too many close passes on that street so I decided this week it was time to go the "long" way.
On way home, I have been doing the reverse of long way for several weeks now and I add a bit in the park I swing thru to access the MUP by doing a lap or two on the crit route (they have a crit at this park every TUE from March until August/September). TT once a month too. Next spring I hope to add a run to the end of the MUP in Seal Beach and then head back north to my house. This longer route with the extra in park gets me almost 9 miles.
I use a backpack because commute is short enough I don't see need for rack and panniers/trunk bag. I ride a Bianchi Vigorelli steel bike for my commute.
