It's definetly worth a couple of hundred.
I like it, the only change I would make is the saddle (personal prefrence) and put in a threadless fork and headset.
Overall it is a good buy just dont pay more than $500-600 for it.

Amazingly, I even like the colored tires. Usually I hate that.
The speckled bar tape has got to go, though.

Billato is a one of the more famous of the unknown Italian 'white labels' and has a long history of supplying many of the big name brands and pro teams with own label frames. Billato frames, built for other brands, have won everything from Olympic titles and Tour De France, Giro, Classics, to races in the UK, including the Milk Race. These GAN steel bikes were built with Excell Glx tubing from France. I have one, similar to the attached pic.
I just looked at your pics, and based on some of the details like the engraved brake bridge, lug shapes, fork crown and the cable tunnel I'd make an educated guess and say Billato. These details are remarkably similar to mine, and I have the '94 with the Excell tubing.
Because Greg was racing for French teams at the beginning and end of his career (I don't count the lost PDM years), Campy or Mavic components would probably have been the norm. I have a LeMond Bicycles catalog from '94 or thereabouts and it shows Mavic stuff.

The more I think about this, the more painful it is going to be to turn this thing over to my friend. Good thing it's too big for me...

Another thing that makes it seem vintage is that it's basically pre-internet...so there's no info cached about it anywhere!
