Oh for Pete's Sake... The ad was really not the point... Nor is whether one can "call it a fake" the point. You can say there's "nothing on the bike to misrepresent it as a Colnago." The bike was built years ago. Someone cut the lugs, someone built the frame, and someone painted and put decals on it, (maybe the same someone, who knows). The RdV decals, are also not new, unusual, and not seen too often. If you are aware of the history of these bikes, for decades there have been claims of fakes being made. I have not seen one worthy of that designation, until now.

You don't see the clubs cut into the lugs as contradicting your statement "nothing on the bike to misrepresent it as a Colnago."??? Unless you've done some cutting of steel lugs, etc. you may not be aware; it's not just a few minutes of easy filing. You are entitled to your opinion

I'd be willing to wager ol' Ernesto might feel differently than you do.

I have no idea what your point is. The bike has no Colnago decals or stampings and none of the three different club designs on the lugs look like Colnago. Do you think the lug and fork cutouts look like those on a real Colnago? Tell me what I'm missing?

Dear Moe,
I apologize, I thought my point was clear. You opine that it can't properly be called a fake Colnago. Anyone can say whatever they want. Does not mean it's correct.
You don't see the clubs cut into the lugs as contradicting your statement "nothing on the bike to misrepresent it as a Colnago."??? I disagree.
Ironically the clubs were not cut in but cast, apparently.
Even if without googling these you know which is a real aColnago
and which is not, there are less astute folks that would be confused.
Again, I think these have earned the right to be called fake Colnago.

I have no idea why you would argue that they can not really be called fakes, but fine, I agree to differ.
Peace.

Not everyone is an expert, nor as observant as you clearly are.

All good, my friend. I learned something new today that puts things in a new perspective: I really had no idea that Colnago produced bikes with RdV decals and pantographs. These frames clearly had the right lugs, BB cutout, etc. The newly enlightened me agrees with you that the bike is clearly mis-represented to be a RdV Colnago.

Thanks for motivating me to to some research.

3 wheeled trike, $1800. You'd think for that kind of money you'd get hubcaps (and grips) but maybe I could point those things out and get the seller down to $1650 or so.

https://fresno.craigslist.org/bik/d/...949969301.html

The detail photos are pretty amazing. "Mi Vida Loca" indeed. Rainbow horse blanket is apparently included.

Heck, if I could sell one of these a week, I could quit my day job. And they're mechanically so simple, only about a step beyond a Flintstones car. No gears, plenty of traction, little chance of flat tires in the back. What's not to like? These ought to sell like hotcakes.

With that low seat, who can reach the handlebars? I wonder if the creator discovered the problem and decided to sell as a result.

It might be an adventure on a downhill. I wonder if the skinny front tire has enough traction to stop the 2 rear? Might have to go Flinstone for real

That is so not the point with 26 gear inches it's not going anywhere quickly

The rear brakes are Brembo, you just don't see them in the photo

That upright seatback has got to be mighty uncomfortable. Unless the whole seat can slide forward and backward, the whole thing looks like it'd cause a taller person like myself lots of pain. Even if you're just cruising at 3 mph to show off.

They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.

I'll bet if you run at low enough pressure the ride from those plush rear tires would be sublime.

You'll need more than a frame pump if you ever have to pump up one of thse rear tires.

1978 called. It wants its whitewalls and tire profile back. Oh, and it wants to know if Montgomery Ward is still around.

^^^^^ Appears to be a fixed gear, so it has "brakes" on two of the wheels.

Designer obviously understood sacred geometry and Platonic solids. Crank offset appears to be 109.5 degrees, which is the angle described by a tetrahedron encased in a sphere.

Or maybe not......

I can't say if this is worth it or not. It looks like the bike has reasonably good workmanship.

Custom chopoer - $1250 (Springfield5)

What a photo!!!

And, which bike is the one being sold? Motorized?

Asking top dollar for a sale, and a horrendous ad? I wish the seller luck.

^^^^^ Note to seller - don't take photos while test-riding another bike through the shop.

WW bonus points for meaningless frame size, misspelling Schwinn TWO different ways in one ad, and obvious misspellings (not typos) of first-grade-English words.

Yeah, super dumb. $1200 and pay for shipping, too. LOL. These always make no sense to me. "Ultegra 8-speed" build, get the speeds right, seller. 9-speed. Not even complete. Doesn't advertise it's a triple (a viable selling point). Mismatched wheels (hubs, at a minimum), no tires/tubes (the least one can do, and makes for a much easier sale).

"Smoked chrome" yeah right 2x. A lovely dark metallic grey? You bet. Suntour GPX brake calipers, although nice (with the hidden spring a la Superbe Pro), are no match in performance and in groupset (obviously) for the rest of the 6500-era Ultegra going on. To say nothing of how much better silver calipers look than the painted GPX ones against the color of the bike.

Dude should have just sold the AD as a frame, fork and headset.
