shorter stem. looks like you're reaching a bit. And yes, core strength helps, and miles. more miles.

If anything, longer stem. Try turning it over and rotate the bars a bit as mentioned above. You want to be less upright and have more arm bend, about 15°. Try this: with your hands on the hoods and the pedals horizontal, bend your elbows until your forearms are horizontal. In that position, your elbows should be in front of your knees by about an inch. Also, your bars should hide your front hub when you look down.

But the most important thing to get rid of back pain is to straighten your back. You are sitting back on your sitbones and then bending at the waist to lean forward. Instead, rotate your hips forward so that your whole back is straight from butt to neck. So . . . more forward lean and a straight back.

Hi Chris,

I am 6'3" with a 36" inseam. I usually ride an old 61 frame or a TCR large.

I would say that you should drop your seat a bit.

You have your stem set high. In time you will probably want to cut down the steerer tube and/or flip the stem.

I think we both have a positive ape index so it helps to bend the elbows a bit.

Work on your core and put on the miles.

Thank you all for the advice. I've started working my core at the gym. I'm going to take my bike in soon, they told me to bring the bike in after 10 hours for adjustments. I will address the stem handlebar position an d seat height at that time.

Happy riding!
