I was a little bit dismayed when I glanced outside at my thermometer and saw the needle pointing at the number 5. That's 5 Celsius (41 American degrees). Long sleeves and gloves today. Thick fog. The rim brakes on my bike didn't work very well when trying to slow down on a downhill.

I saw some geese flying in V formation, but they were flying north. Must have been a training flight. Still, it's a sign the season is changing. That, plus leaves and poop on the trails. I don't know why it seems there's always more poop on the trails in autumn.

I'm almost leaving in the dark, but still in mid to upper 60's in the morning. Afternoons are still around 95-100F so get a good sweat going. Almost 3 weeks of daily commuting and my ride is getting faster and the hills are getting less steep.

Consecutive bicycle work commute number 1027:

Been riding lots of extra on the way to work this summer. The last few days I've developed a saddle sore, so today I just wasn't in the mood to deal with it. The direct route to the client's office was 4 miles. Lately I've been riding 13-15 miles to get there. This morning I only rode 8.6 miles. Still more than just heading straight to work.

The client recently moved into a new building. One of the nice things about this building is a locker room with showers, so now I can shower after my commute instead of before. The showers also have encouraged others to start commuting by bicycle. Most days there's 3-4 of us who ride now, where previously it was usually just me.

Nice that the client has showers and you are able to use them. That is an awesome benefit!

It was a pleasant yet uneventful commute to work today. The temp was at 54 degrees and dark skies.

Well I am at Friday.. Yay! Another pleasant ride this am with the temp at 60 f degrees and dark cloudy skies.

My ride home yesterday was between two bouts of rain(which we sorely need). I was fortunate there was a stop in the rain for about 1 1/2 hrs and that was my time frame for riding.

It was a pleasant ride in this am. The mornings are getting chillier with the temp at 53 f degrees this am. All in all a good start to the day!

Yesterday the temp in the am was mid 40 's so I chose not to ride. I fixed the issue though. I bought myself a new headband and liner gloves. They will arrive on Friday. I

Blissful 99°F on my afternoon ride. Service engineers kept me until after 6. So not only was it cool, the shadows were longer. Good thing my lights worked.

It was a pleasant commute in this am with the temp at 59 degrees and dark skies. There is some new pavement on my ride and is it smooth riding on that piece of roadway. All roads should be so nice.

A pleasant commute in this morning with wet roads after the rain yesterday. The temp was 70 degrees at 5 am. No jacket needed.

I rode home in the rain yesterday but it was not unpleasant I put lube on the chain after the ride.

First day of school for the public system today, so there was a noticeable uptick in traffic this morning. Riding past a school and seeing masked kids lined up 6' apart, with a teacher holding a spacing stick to ensure appropriate distance, made me feel sad.

Otherwise, it was a pretty nice ride. I felt energetic for some reason, except when going uphill.

It's Friday!! Yay! A very pleasant ride in this am with the temp at 64 degrees. I saw a bunny on the side of the road and the car came along, little bunny was was running changing course twice, he made it out alive. I know how he feels when cars are around. A truck came up on the side of me at a stop sign this am, I was going straight he was turning right, he turned right before I could go straight, apparently his right turn could not wait another 20 seconds. I also made it out without injury.

I have been practicing bunny hops recently to jump over some bumps on my route, but yesterday, I started hearing a funny noise whenever I landed, like:

<bunny hop> !tung! "What the heck was that?"
<bunny hop> !Tung! "Shoot, am I breaking spokes or something?"
<bunny hop> !TUNG! "Okay, this is getting worrisome." <quick check wheels> "Looks okay...and on a completely unrelated note, why do the brake hoods on my drop bars feel lower dow--- never mind."

Got home, rotated the bars back up and tightened the bolts a little extra.

Nice uneventful ride this morning, with no unusual sound effects to report.

Rode in twice this week. Yesterday was great. I was in a foul mood and took some energy to get going. Had one of those "No, you go" moments with someone at a stop sign. So, I went, he passed me, I caught him at the next stop sign. Next stop light, there he is. Did my left turn with traffic and at the next stop sign, there he was. We went through the intersection together, me slightly ahead. Then I hear the tell-tale sound of a car slowing down. I look over, and notice his window is open, and he says, "Man, you're fast!" I said, "Thanks,I try!" We know it's all a matter of timing and stop signs, but it was nice that someone in a car actually noticed me (in a good way).

Then, this morning on my climb into work, I hear another tell-tale sound: The buzzing of knobbies coming up fast behind me. "E-bike," I think. No biggie, smile and wave. Instead, it's a couple of e-trikes, and the guy in front has to point out to me that my "helmet isn't helping much there!" (on my handlebar). I said, "No, it's not," because I couldn't think of anything snappier. I should have said, yes, it's doing a lot of good there by not making me so freakin' hot at 7:30 in the morning. Just kind of annoying.

But a fast ride, at least.

It is back to Monday again, though Labor day. It was so quiet on the commute to work this am. I saw no more than 6 cars in 8 miles of riding. The temp was a mild 59 degrees. I decided to work today when the office will be quiet and take off Friday this week.

Consecutive bicycle work commute number 1033:

Took a few extra days off over the Labor Day weekend and my wife and I went on an anniversary get-away. After five days of sleeping in and eating tons of junk, today I was riding pretty slow. 45 degrees this morning and a headwind didn't help much either, but I can't blame it all on that.

Got to the client's office right as it started to rain. Glad I left the house a few minutes early.

Mornings are getting cooler, usually in the low to mid-50s. Last week we even had some mornings in the 30s.

I posted my latest commuting adventures video:

It was a pleasant commute to work today with the temp at 46 degrees. The first day of long pants for the season. The new pavement is being lined this week. They are making bike lines and they are wide enough. Yay!

I did a round trip today. The bike trail is being repaved, and it’s closed. I ignored the signs, but came up on the crew. One of them had dropped a Weedwhacker a little ways up trail, and I told him about it, then went back out to the street

Another pleasant commute this am with the temp at 55 degrees. I saw a fox he was running ahead of me. I think he was looking for a place to go because he went into different yards and came right back out. Finally he found an area that was suitable because he continued into the yard.
