Butchering aero bars?
The used touring bike I recently bought will be used mostly for commuting and light touring. It came with a set of aero bars. The previous owner attached two cross pieces made from PVC pipe to hold a computer and headlight. I'm considering butchering them into accessory holders since I don't see myself using them much.
Thoughts?

Your bike, your bars. If you have and idea to make them better for you---try it. If someone else doesn't like it---screw 'em.

Here's my winter/commuter/utility bike. The headlight goes right at the front "prow". Inboard bar-ends and an aero bar. I hold the elbow rests for upright pedalling.
The computer/speedometer sits on the main bars, and the clock and thermometer sit on the stem.
Print this picture and carry it with you. If anybody thinks your bars look odd, show them this.

I once did something similar with EMT conduit. Do what you want. As mentioned, your bike, your set up.
