Sad Bourdel
As seen in France, Auvergne, locked to a pole as a way to welcome the upcoming Tour stage (this is Bardet country). Still salvageable I suppose! Pretty big surprise when I looked up the Clermont-Ferrand based Bourdel brand as it turns out Mr. Bourdel was the founder and director of M.A.F.A.C . Made a bunch of nice bikes as well, in the 40ies and 50ies.

I’d be very tempted to leave a note on the bike asking the “owner” to contact me because I’d buy the bike outright for a reasonable sum.

I have had surprisingly good results from doing that through the years, acquiring a Mercian rebuilt by Mike Melton and an amazing 1-owner Rudge Pathfinder 8-speed!

He appears he may hail from the mid-to-late 1930's.
His lugset is courtesy of Monsieur Egg. His pump pegs NERVEX Nr. 845.
The fascinating brake set looks as though it may be one of the models from the firm of Jeay.
Here is one pattern shown in a Gentil et Cie catalogue page of 1939 -
this page illustrates four braze-on models. clamp-on versions as per the subject cycle were also offered.
His stem and bar set is from AVA. Catalogue page of 1939 -
Pedals appear to be Lyotard 15B.
Oh, would not we all love to have a drive side view...

Those thumbies did look to me as if they were added to plain factory levers. Kind of made me want to try that out, braking from the hoods with extra thumb leverage. Seems like a viable idea.

That looks to be close to your size, CMAW .....
Really lovely bike. I remember coming across a "sculpture" like that in France at TdF time, and only the limited room in the two-seater and a livid mrs non-fixie kept me from walking in and making an offer.
