Niterider 1w vs 1/2w vs blackburn mars 4.0

do i really need the extra 1/2 watt?
Will the blackburn 1 watt light be better performance for my money?

I lost my 5 led cat eye tailight last night at a bar and would like to know which one of these would be preferrable (or anything else that you suggest) I am thinking the blackburn because it has the side lights. It wasn't easy to sort through information for tailights on the sticky. Personally I think a list on the 1st post would be helpful.

I have a Cherrybomb 1/2w. Has a built in small reflector so that it's not totally useless if it malfunctions. That being said, the 1w version looks like it has better side visibility. There's all kinds of youtube vids on the more popular tail lights...

And if you have some time to kill, PDW offers vids of their lights in action on their site. Serfas does as well. I like how Serfas did theirs- same conditions for every light (as far as I can tell)- POV is what a motorist would see.

I like my Blackburn Flea. USB re-chargable. Annoyingly bright.

Went with the 1 watt cherry bomb, I think the built in reflectors will help more than the side lights of the Niterider, and since it already had enough for super saver shipping I didn't need to pad my order with useless things, also it seemed below what it normally went for elsewear.

For front lights I just prefer to use regular flashlights, but I think it would be too much of a hassle to adjust a flashlight to tailight usage, as they tend to be beam oriented; to see, not to be seen.

Well, this seems to have been a massive hassel. I ordered the Cherry bomb 1 watt and received a 1/2 watt. Amazon was quick to work with me, and sent me another and a shipping label to return the 1st one, and the new one came back as a 1 watt as well. Now I am sending them both back for refunds and waiting for an inventory investigation to figure out what is going on, which could take up to a week. Because of this, I will need to borrow a rear light from a friend if he can spare it, or spend the next week driving everyday. Each day is 20 miles total in gas, and I commute 6 days a week, which works out to $21 in gas, which, on a frugal budget, is a significant cost to me. If it were an available option, I might keep it and ask for the price difference ($5) so that I can ride at night again, but that isn't how this kind of stuff works, it seems.

I have a couple of Blackburn 3.0 lights. I think they are really well built & bright enough for me. IMO Blackburn is very under rated.

An increadible review. I just got a response from the shop that I ordered the light from, they said there was some sort of inventory error, and they are offering me a $15 amazon gift card. Since it looks like there are no 1 watt cherrybombs on prime at the moment, and I have a bit more money, I am getting either the Danger Zone or the Super Flash Turbo. Aside from the dangerzone being more attractive, the superflash has pics of it just falling off the the mount on amazon that scare me a little.
