' Nearly half of all journeys to school and work in Copenhagen take place on bicycles. And people like it that way.'

Interesting article but once it has three wheels it's a TRICYCLE not a bike and thus the thing they're talking about near the beginning of the article is a Cargo TRIKE not a cargo bike. Trikes are more stable than bicycles most times.

Cheers

Just WOW!!!

Of course, tightly packed housing helps a lot. But, still, governments have to take notice of cyclists needs with that many bikes!!! And, not a tropical paradise either.

They are Christiania BIKES!

Germans and Americans have this precision fetish in specifying number of wheels.
Pretty much Danes and Dutch and Sweeds do not.

But you are right, the Christiania Bikes are quite stable at zero km/h.

Clearly, any company can call themselves whatever ever they like, but yeah Bi would be two and Tri would be three. Not sure why knowing the difference would be considered a fetish.

Doesn't matter much. I can't see the article anyway. Probably that firewall we got set up at the Sabine River.

Well, it is an odd observation about the article. And sort of missing the forest for the leaf.

This video will show you how to ride a three wheeled cargo BIKE

Did you try right-clicking on the URI, saving the article, reading the copy you just made? It works for me without a subscription. Not that you can't live without reading this article.

COPENHAGEN — By the standards operative on most of planet Earth, this is not an especially wonderful day for a bicycle ride. The temperature reads 42 degrees Fahrenheit, and a vengeful breeze forces damp chill to the bone. Sullen gray clouds occupy the sky, dispensing an apathetic drizzle.
He lost me with the initial premise. I love that kind of weather. I'm guessing the author is not so much into outdoor sports.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I copied the link and put it in a browser that doesn't have ad-blocker. Opened that web page there, then tried to right click, select all, copy, paste into notepad, and still nothing worth reading. Right clicking and viewing page source doesn't reveal the article either.

Not a big deal, the article will probably make it to City Lab or Pocket in 6 months to a year from now. Hopefully, I'll see it then.

Maybe he works for a federal government agency and is not permitted to read articles in the NYT.

Not a fed or state employee, but the Sabine River Firewall does keep some content from the east coast from reaching here.

I live in a simular climate, allthough 'vengeful breeze' is usually an understatement, and this time of year it's just very unpleasant quite often. It often feels a lot colder than when it's freezing but the air is relatively dry.

Anyway, let's hope it's about real improvement now instead of city marketing and making up the numbers.

Brietner weer where you are?

Anyhow, wet and warm, or cold and dry. But cold and rain and wind is - misearable.

BTW, “vengeful breeze” is accurate while pushing a Christiania Bike, no matter where the wind blows. Not the most pleasant BIKE on a windy day.

Words with numerical roots often lose that original specificity. Example--"decimate".

Do we have to point out that September, October, November and December are misnomers every time they roll around?

BTW, SUVs are technically trucks. I don't see anyone protesting when an SUV owner says they're going to get "the car".

One of these days I'll figure out the Latin version of SUV.

Not sure, it might be a really big number ending in 5.

Or Portare Utilis Vehiculum.

I just found out how to write 1,000,000 in Roman numerals, btw:
__
M

If the number is over 3,999, a line over the letter indicates that it's a thousand times the normal value of the letter.

I get corrected by my physiotherapist when I called her car an SUV. She kept saying it was a crossover. Whatever that is.

It's a SUV for drivers in denial.

Personally I think that it is a bit unfair to call a Christiania Bike an S.U.V.
