Help with 1x12 conversion needed

I have a 2012 anthem 29er that I'm trying to convert from 2x10 to 1x12. Got a set of sram gx shifter, cassette, and derailleur, and a 32t ring from Amazon. I installed all, and each shift causes the chain to ride on the top of the teeth on the front ring for a second, and once I get to the third largest cog or so, it jumps the front ring. Thoughts?

Bikes: Too many. Giant Trance X 29, Surly Midnight Special get the most time.

Did you install a new 12 speed chain? Didn't mention that. Also getting the correct chain length and B tension are both pretty important.

Is your chainring spaced correctly for your bike's chainline?

cpach's second point is what was going thru my mind--maybe the OP got ahold of a boost chainring (I'm pretty sure 2012 is non-boost) or is using or missing a spacer?

Agree with all suggestions - chain and chain line are what I would ensure are correct.
