Black residue between fork and stem?
Appears to be a very powdery residue...possibly carbon? Bike is a Specialized Roubaix di2 Ultegra. I've put about 2K mikes on it.
Anyone have anything similar happen?
Thought it could be just dust building up on a tiny weep of oil, perhaps...but not oily in the least...just dry, black dust.
All seems well with the steering. More powdery than gritty.

Everything feels fine...you'll recall that this has the Future Shock feature...which is a pretty sealed up unit, so I wouldn't think that would have been a problem.
Just surprised me...I'm used to dust collecting on anything oily (former USMC tanker), but this didn't seem oily or greasy. However, it is time for some basic maintenance anyway, so I'll do that and just keep an eye on it.
Thanks for the responses. Take care.

There's enough oil on the paved roads to create its own mess for dust to cling to bikes. A few minor puddle splashes and tires will spray oily residue on the bike. Then comes the dust and usual road debris.

It is my first carbon fiber bike...initially worried that what I was finding was carbon. Gonna just pm it a bit and ride it.
